Holiday Inn Resort Puerto Vallarta

The hotel is away from the old (and charming) center of Puerto Vallarta, and a few minutes from the airport. It is modern, well designed with nice size rooms. Be sure to check that everything works upon arrival. The two floor-to-ceiling shades were problematic for several people in our group. Also know that there is a switch to turn on the mini-fridge. Have the porter who delivers your luggage show you how the thermostat works as it is not intuitive and hard to see with window glare. The buffet breakfast is excellent. You can order your omelette at the kitchen counter, as well as bacon. There is a good array of both Mexican and continental choices on the buffet. I especially liked their “green juice” a healthy mix of fresh vegetables and juices. The one regret I had was that it is difficult to make reservations for the hotel spa. Reception doesn’t have a spa menu, and the spa is not staffed all the time. There is a complimentary airport shuttle with departure times posted. Make a reservation at the reception desk. To get to nearby restaurants and shopping, you have to cross a wide street. There is a cross walk, but no traffic signals, so be careful

We had a 5 week vacation planned for several months at the Grand Luxxe within the Vidanta Resorts in Nuevo Vallarta, MX---and, our flights were booked using Alaska Air miles. As all travelers know, using miles means that the airlines can change the flights and that is what happened to us. Alaska chose to book us with their partner airline, American Air, likely because it was more user friendly for us to fly from our home in Missouri via Dallas or Houston, instead of having to fly from Kansas City to Seattle to Puerto Vallarta on Alaska. But, we were notified about one month prior to departure that our American flight out of DFW was being moved up one day. So, that meant we had to stay one night (01/14/26) before we could proceed with our resort booking. We booked that night in the Holiday Inn Marina in PV, just 2 blocks from the very popular PV Marina restaurants. This HI is a very new property and it far exceeded our expectations---the facility was 5 Star level, the staff was outstanding and the free breakfast that was included was outstanding as well. Our room was comparable to what we have had at the Grand Luxxe Tower 5 and we cannot recommend this hotel high enough for anyone traveling to PV.

I am staying today from 29 to 30 November. I got a roof in the room I hate roofs🤮 luckily I'm leaving today. Too bad.
