Virrey de Mendoza

Unbeatable location, terrible experience. Staying at the Virrey has been one of the most unpleasant experiences of all my trips. Besides being exorbitantly expensive for what it offers, the facilities are neglected and out of order. The service is normal in the hotel, lousy in the restaurant. The rooms don't have the minimum basics, you can't find an iron, or a safe and don't say an alarm clock or usb connection. Wifi connectivity is a calamity and there are only two things that half save the hotel. Its cleanliness and its location. During my stay I called the reception 5 times and not once did they answer, the water in the bathtub came out terribly dirty and there was no one to answer. Av Madero has a late night life and even though the rooms are "isolated" the noise gets in and it is difficult to rest. It's a nice and colonial place but it needs a lot of improvement, instead of feeling classic and old it's perceived as old and outdated. For that price you can find way better accommodations, very disappointed of my stay there.

The hotel, decor inside the restaurant are very nice and the quality of the service is perfect. Unfortunately the chef does not have real knowledge how to cook the beef filet and has no idea how to make a sauce. For him a Porto sauce is porto which is a bit heated and that is it! the onions are almost raw and the potatoes are a bit fade... Sad for such a nice place. Do not waste your money here ( restaurant). Morelia is a fabulous city and there is plenty of great restaurants around sorry ...

Booked a suite through a travel site, and when I arrived I was given a junior suite.... The hotel was booked due to a wedding party, so I let it go. Then I got to the room and was disappointed by how small it is, and the level of noise in the room with all the doors and windows facing the street was unacceptable. Surely the hotel is aware of this and should offer some earplugs? The bed itself was hard, and the bathroom had a window that opened to the interior of the building... so other guests could hear everything, and you could hear them! The location is great, and the architecture is beautiful, but I found the hotel room to be subpar. Historic, yes, but not quite what was expected.
