Honest Review – Seadust Cancun Resort All Inclusive (July 20–25, 2026)
My wife and I stayed at Seadust Cancun Resort from July 20–25, 2026. We booked a king room and went in expecting a relaxing all-inclusive vacation. Unfortunately, while there were definitely some positives, the resort ultimately fell well short of our expectations, especially considering what is advertised online.
First Impressions
The resort makes a great first impression. The lobby is large, clean, and impressive, and the overall property feels spacious. Check-in was quick and smooth, and every staff member we interacted with was friendly and genuinely helpful. They even assisted us with booking an excursion, which we appreciated.
Our room was also a positive. It was clean when we arrived, the bed was comfortable (8/10), the air conditioning worked perfectly, the bathroom was clean, water pressure was good, and we really liked the lighting in the room.
The Biggest Issue: Misleading Advertising
The biggest disappointment was that the resort simply didn’t match what was advertised.
The website promotes 9 restaurants, but this is very misleading. Several of these are actually cafés or grab-and-go stations rather than full restaurants. The grab-and-go area mostly consisted of things like pre-packaged salads, carrot sticks in cups, and a self-serve coffee machine. The food rarely looked fresh, and there wasn’t really anyone serving guests.
In reality, during our stay:
The Lighthouse restaurant never opened once.
Big Ben required an additional US$30 per person, despite staying at an all-inclusive resort.
That effectively left only three included dinner restaurants each evening.
The outdoor restaurant mostly served hot dogs, burgers, and fries.
The café was frequently out of items, had very limited flavour choices, and even ran out of ice one morning.
Restaurant scheduling also didn’t make much sense. Manhattan, Samurai, Florence, and Big Ben all operated from 5:00–10:30 p.m., while the Mexican restaurant was only open from 12:30–4:30 p.m. Because of those limited hours, there was almost always a waitlist for the Mexican restaurant.
If a resort advertises a fully operating property with multiple dining options, guests should reasonably expect those restaurants to actually be available. If restaurants are closed during a stay, I believe pricing should reflect that.
Food
The food was, unfortunately, the weakest part of the trip.
Breakfast: 6/10
Dinner: 2/10
Overall food quality: 5/10
Variety: 2/10
The Samurai restaurant was by far our favourite meal, while Manhattan was the most disappointing.
The drinks, however, were consistently good, and the bartenders did a great job.
Beach & Pools
The pools were excellent. They were clean, well laid out, and it was usually easy to find chairs.
The beach started off beautiful, but as the week went on, large amounts of seaweed accumulated and were never cleared away. This became increasingly disappointing toward the end of our stay.
What made this more frustrating was seeing information about a roughly US$30 environmental fee intended for keeping the beaches and ocean clean. While I understand seaweed can be difficult to manage, seeing it pile up all week without noticeable cleanup made that charge difficult to understand.
Activities & Amenities
This resort is definitely geared toward families with young children.
For adults, there wasn’t much happening.
The entertainment mainly consisted of staff organizing volleyball and water aerobics. We didn’t attend the evening shows because they appeared to be aimed primarily at kids.
One thing that surprised us was how much of the resort wasn’t being used. During our stay we discovered, only by exploring ourselves, basketball courts, tennis courts, and an outdoor entertainment area that weren’t advertised or actively operating. There were no staff, no activities, and in some cases no lighting. Had these areas been promoted and used, the resort would have felt much more lively.
Housekeeping
Housekeeping was inconsistent.
One day our room was cleaned, but all of our towels were removed and none were replaced. After calling the front desk, we waited about an hour and a half before fresh towels finally arrived, meaning we couldn’t even shower after returning to our room.
The Positives
Despite my criticisms, there were several things Seadust did well:
Friendly, helpful staff.
Great drinks.
Clean indoor areas.
Comfortable rooms with excellent air conditioning.
Nice pool layout and overall resort design.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I’d rate Seadust Cancun Resort a 5/10.
It wasn’t a terrible vacation—we were able to relax, the staff were genuinely kind, and the resort itself is clean. However, it felt very underwhelming because the experience simply didn’t match what was advertised.
The biggest improvements management should focus on are:
Better and more accurate advertising.
Improving food quality and variety.
Ensuring restaurants are actually open and available.
Expanding activities and making existing amenities more visible.
Improving housekeeping consistency.
If you’re travelling with young children, you may enjoy this resort more than we did. As a couple looking for a wide variety of dining options and amenities, we left disappointed and wouldn’t choose to return.
