Royal Hideaway Playacar

My wife and I have stayed at Royal Hideaway Playacar several times since our first trip in 2002. We always enjoy our stay and greatly appreciate the staff at RH. While we enjoy all the restaurants at RH, our favorites are Ventanas and Azia. Sara, the manager, keeps Ventanas running very well! Relaxing atmosphere, great food, and incredible service from all the staff...particularly Oscar, who has been our waiter several times. The tepanyaki table at Azia is a great evening and delicious. Eduardo and all the guys serving pool side are fantastic. We will definitely return again soon, though not in the summer months as the A/C just could not keep up with the heat, and we rarely felt cooled down. Massages at the spa are incredible. We highly recommend Royal Hideaway Playacar... in the spring and fall!

This is our 4th visit to Royal Hideaway. Excellent service, food, and atmosphere. We have stayed at other resorts in playa and this resort still rises to the top. On this visit I received several services at the spa and it was AMAZING, I highly recommend !

First, I want to emphasize that most of the staff is friendly. Then the facilities leave MUCH to be desired… there is only one bar for drinks, and the quality of the beverages is VERY poor. There is NO area for sweet snacks in the afternoon (when I asked, I was informed of a place they call Tea Time, which is only available from 4 to 5 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday; the coffee is terrible, and to top it off, at 5 PM there isn't even any bad coffee!!). There are only quality morning beverages. As for the restaurants, there are three moderately good ones and then two of average quality. There is no buffet restaurant or anywhere to find snacks in the morning or afternoon that are not alcoholic. The recreation and EVERYTHING that happens is in ENGLISH, so it is NOT a place for Spanish-speaking people to enjoy. Finally, and not to bore you since there are plenty of criticisms during the World Cup, they do not show the World Cup matches, obviously, they are all Americans and Canadians. I have stayed in many adults-only hotels, and without a doubt, this is the worst!! If you are Spanish-speaking, choose from the many other hotel chains that offer much higher quality at equal or lower prices, considering all customs.
