The Royal Playa Del Carmen

Don't bother if you're a vegan, selection is terrible, nothing is labelled and if you have an allergy make sure you've taken out life insurance as they don't care! Can't get into restaurants so you have to rely on room service which again is terrible with no options for anyone other than meat eaters. One vegan option which is made with dairy milk! Never been so ill and they take no responsibility at all. Customer service is horrendous, I'm still waiting for details in their legal delays they won't take any complaints seriously. Diabolical, don't bother booking! The hotel is huge and sprawling and the entertainment is in par with Butlins. They don't do anything they say they will do and noone has any interest unless they are trying to get a tip. The beach stinks and is thick with seaweed. Air con sounds like a jumbo jet. Avoid.

We are just leaving our 1 week trip today. We love the Hyatt brand for all inclusive and this resort didn't disappoint. Our room was huge. Beds were comfortable. We got the swim up room and loved being able to jump in the pool when ever you wanted. Roberto our pool waiter was the best. Such a friendly guy and was absolutely excellent 👌. Food was pretty good. We are picky eaters but we always was able to get something we liked. The coffee shop and ice cream was great. I would grab a coffee every morning and my husband would grab a ice cream every night. All the servers at the restaurants were great but especially Demetrio at spice for breakfast. Our last day here made extra special and gave us a nice going away cake with "have a trip" written in chocolate. The main pool was louder but still great. We upgraded to a cabana one day and it was a great little treat. Happy we did that. We got a spa package that came with unlimited hydrotherapy and it was worth every penny. We used it most days and it was an amazing way to spend an hour before dinner. There are always little things that can be improved but nothing worth noting. We had a fantastic stay. And will be back.

From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed by everyone at the resort. Check-in was smooth, the rooms were spacious, spotless, and very comfortable, and the housekeeping team did an excellent job every day. The restaurants offered great food with plenty of options, and the service was consistently warm and attentive. What really made this vacation stand out was the entertainment staff. They created a fun atmosphere without ever being pushy, making it easy to join activities and meet other guests. I want to give a special mention to Dulce. Her joyful personality is truly contagious. Every time she saw us, she greeted us with a big smile and genuine excitement, making us feel recognized instead of just another guest. She brought so much positive energy to every activity and helped create memories that we’ll always remember. This resort offers much more than beautiful facilities it has people who genuinely care about making your stay special. We would happily return.
