Ahau Tulum

My main criticism of this hotel is the misrepresentation of the room types. We stayed in a junior oceanfront suite - just so you know - only the master suites and beach houses are actually oceanfront. The junior suites are set behind them so yes you have an oceanfront but the other rooms types are in front of you! Also the rooms are dark and dingy, What makes it a suite? Who knows, maybe the bench at the end of the bed. The real joke is the 'spacious bathroom' - honestly it was the smallest and most unprivate bathroom ever. A sink behind the bed and then one door leading to the toilet ( which barely flushed, had no ventilation or AC) and the other to a tiny shower ( no water pressure). I suppose as the room was so small you could say the bathroom was spacious in comparison ?! We booked another one of these for our kids with 2 beds. They didn't bother to do that. Their room ( 15) had enough rooms on the 'spacious outside deck' for exactly 2 chairs and a table. Everything is quite old and stained. Also a massive annoyance - no fridge or minibar or kettle or coffee machine. Our arrival was met with a lukewarm reception - very organised but not exactly warm or friendly. The common areas were nice to sit in and the waitress in the restaurant was always lovely and smiley. Not their fault obviously but the sea is unswimable due to seaweed in June - but the pool is tiny. I only saw pictures being taken there.

Heavenly hotel, zen atmosphere, typical bungalow, and impeccably clean rooms. Delicious restaurant. Thank you to Sergio, Yasmine, and the entire team for their kindness and excellent service. We particularly appreciated the thoughtful attention of the staff who always called us by our first names. The hotel is in the ideal location on a small street in an incredible jungle filled with restaurants, bars, and boutiques. An unforgettable stay…

Room 15 was a super experience; we loved it. Very relaxing, the staff was wonderfully kind, Sergio and Jasmine, I will return.
