The ruins of Coba are by no means as well known as those at Chicken Itza, but in there own way are much more interesting. The ruins are still being excavated and the large pyramid is only about half uncovered. It is still open to the public to be climbed if you so desire. There is a lot of walking. You can hire bicycles. Whatever mode of transport you decide a good shower will be very welcome when you get back to your hotel. Plan for it to use most of a day for this trip, but if you want you can perhaps squeeze in Tulum.

We were picked up from from Riu Tequila in a very cramp van, very hot and uncomfortable! However the tour guides for this excursion were amazing! For the excursion REMEMBER to wear appropriate foot wear as there is a 2 km walk to the ruins/pyramid! You can take a bicycle or rent on that has a driver for $5.00. Wonderful views and very educational. From there we were driven to a Mayan village to see how the people lived. The family we joined we very friendly and seemed happy to see us, please remember to bring some candy for the children! We also had the opportunity to sit in on a Mayan prayer. We then drove on to finish our day with a swim in a cenote! One of the most amazing things to do and see. The water was clean and refreshing. This cenote only allows small groups so it is not over crowded! It was discovered in 2005 by some hunters! A must do if you are in that area, would return in a heart beat!
