I gave the hotel a 'three' because most of the bad comments of others are certainly true, but our wonderful stay deserved a 'five'. First the bad: no restaurant, advertised 'breakfast' is coffee and fruit loops, no poolside bar or bar period, no lounge chairs around the pool (go figure), no chairs on balconies (just plain crazy), no elevator (big sign on a piece of plywood covering the shaft says don't lean on me). Hoofing up three flights of stairs is a pain, but good excercise. TV is all in Spanish except for one channel that shows old CSI re-runs. Internet is accessible only in the lobby area. To avoid poolside music book Sun-Thurs. The weekend are when families come to enjoy the only pool on the island. Out of thirty units I believe my wife and I shared the hotel with one other couple until the weekend when three other rooms were occupied. We were the only English speaking people but the front desk did a very nice job going out of their way to make sure they understood what we were trying to say. The good: Unlike others we had all the hot water we wanted. The bed and pillows were confortable. The hotel staff/maid service keep the grounds spic and span. The front desk staff were polite and helpful. Rooms 377, 378, and 379 have a view to die for !!! Checking into room 379 I was blown away by the full ocean front view. I noticed the small balcony could fit a couple of chairs and asked the manager at the front desk to have a couple sent up. Five minutes later chairs were delivered and all was good. The hotel is directly on the beach with no road in front of the sand to destroy the view. The waves are two footers that curl down the beach and make a very cool rumble as the roll over...they really are spectacular. The waves continue into the night and make the best white noise you've ever heard. If you're on the first floor you see nothing, the second isn't much better. If your in another 300 room you get a side view which isn't anything like the full frontal. The hotel is cool in that the building blocks off the sun until about 10:00 giving a good couple of hours to enjoy the morning sunrise. Rather than use beach towels we took a couple of plastic chairs down to the beach and had a fantastic time. The beach is truly spectacular...especially in the morning after the tide rolls out leaving the beach pristine and with no one else on it. To forage for food (breakfast/dinner) in the local shops walk along the service road in back of the hotel for half a mile in the direction towards Mazatlan.

I just came from spending 2 nights at this hotel. I live in Cento and wanted a quiet getaway to celebrate my partner's birthday. The photos shown are nothing like what it is today. First of all, they advertise a restaurant which was not open. All the restaurants on the beach close about 5 and the boat to the mainland stops at 7 pm so good luck getting dinner. We were given 2 towels with holes in them. Sheets had stains, there was no hot water although I booked a suite with a jacuzzi . We had 2 balconies but had to carry our own chairs up 3 flights. There were no lounge chairs by the pool. One had to sit in a straight back chair. There was no seating or umbrellas or tables on the beach in front. We were forced to leave to find a lounge to sit on and something to eat and drink. There was no hair dryer in the whole hotel. Not one glass in the room. It was not cheap, I paid close to $200 USD which for the area is quite a bit. I don't know if there is a new manager ( never saw one!) or what the problem is but it was a huge disappointment and I would never recommend it!!

I booked and prepaid 2 months in advance for my husband myself and our son for 2 nights. I have the receipt print out that shows we requested a room for 2 adults and 1 child. When we arrived we were asked to pay for the room again, I showed the receipt and that seemed to settle the issue. We were given the key (1 key) to our second floor corner room. The view was beautiful overlooking the ocean and the pool. However our room contained 1 king sized bed no couch no place for our 6 year old to sleep. I asked the front desk for a cot and was told for $200 pesos a night they would bring something. Even though we had booked for 3 people I agreed due to my limited Spanish. When we returned we found the padding for a lounge chair with a pillow and sheet placed on the tile floor. The wifi didn't work in our 2nd floor room. There was no hot water for our son to have a bath, despite having a very nice large jetted bath tub in our room. I understand that no hot water is not unusual for Stone Island however it would of been nice to know ahead of time. It was rainy and quite cool and our kid was wet and cold. The noise around the pool deck at night really ruined our experience. The hotel owners either couldn't or wouldn't control their guests. At 4 am I finally went down to the front desk and asked the gentleman at the desk to please have the music on the pool deck turned down. He walked me out to the pool deck and pointed to the "strong" man controlling the music and told me that if I had a big husband I should go get him and have him talk to the people. This was by far the worst hotel experience I have ever had.
