Gandara

This place is ok, but not anything more. I've passed by this hotel for years as it is across the street from the Sonora Steak...a must stop in visiting Hermosillo. The hotels imposing walls and iron fixtures imply a stately elegance. But the rooms are old and dated (we had 3). The furniture is worn. It is a hotel so typical of so many in Mexico that start out great but are left to wear out over time. The restaurant is also forgettable...as I really don't remember anything about it. Don't expect anything special about his place. But you can do better elsewhere in Hermosillo.

Pulled into this place on a Thursday evening for one night. $850 pesos. The room was OK, towels, hand towels and wash cloths. Beds on the firm side, linens appeared to be clean, aircon adequate, Wifi a little feeble in our room, at least, secure parking. The sink faucet leaked and could not be shut off. Service was reasonably good, some limited english spoken. This was not our first choice in Hermosillo which was the city express, fully booked.

My wife and I stopped to eat and we had to wait for 30 minutes for a bowl of soup and wait another 15 minutes for a burger that never came. 45 minutes in total timeout !! We decided to leave (after I paid the drinks and soup) )and never to return. The worst of it is that there were only two tables already served, the rest of the tables were empty. I asked the waiter for the bill twice but did not serve me. The manager was eating there, but was so busy with her friends.
