San Andres Hermosillo

My mother & I stopped in at this cute little hotel because we wanted an affordable overnight stop with a pool, that was also pet-friendly. The parking lot is secure, so that was appealing, the pool area is just lovely and the fellow that helped us get our stuff to our room was delightful. But that was about it. The rooms are very dark with no outside window. The AC unit in our room was making a horrible squeal-clunk sound. The man helping us tried to fix it by changing settings, but it sounded like something was loose inside, so he went and got us a new room. The next room was the same...dark, and kind of dingy but quiet AC. It'll do. There is only one small bottle of water in each room. We asked about more water, but they are 12 pesos each. Fine...we paid for more water. The electrical outlets are in the stranggest locations, leaving it a bit of a challenge when 2 people need to use their laptops at the same time, but that's minor. We went for dinner and when we came back, our room key no longer worked. I went to the desk to get a new one, but that one didn't work either. I went back again and was told to go wait by the room, they would fix it in a few minutes (the fellow was eating at the time when he said this). So we sat on the stairs next to the room and waited. Eventually, the man came up and let us into the room, but still didn't have a key for us. He was a bit rude about it, but said he would be back with a key soon. Getting ready for bed, my mother pulled back the heavy duvet (which is white and doesn't have a washable cover) to find a huge dirty shoe-print on the sheet. I checked my bed and the sheets were full of holes, not from wear but from scissors or something. While my sheets appeared clean, the pillowcase had what looked like a big ink splatter across the one side, they just put that side down. When the man came back to our room, we showed him the ink and the dirty shoe-print to which he pointed at the cats and suggested they were responsible. REALLY?? He went to get new bedding but turned up empty handed and said we needed to pay extra for the cats. What? But we said we had cats when we checked in and paid, but there was no extra charge for pets. Now they are saying there is? I took the sheets to the desk myself and showed them the dirt but they were unapologetic and insisted I still pay. THey refused to just give me the clean bedding to bring up and made us wait even longer for the man to bring them up. On top of all of this, it was noisy, the toilet never stops running and it didn't look very clean. The WiFi is almost non-existent. We are not very fussy, but filthy bedding is a deal breaker, and they were not at all apologetic about it. Gross! The only things we liked were the pool and the incredible Chinese restaurant up the street. Stay somewhere else.

Thumbs up: was it an exception? I don't know, but our dog was allowed in the hotel. Downside: because we had a dog, we've been offered a clean but run down room. But we thought it was a fair deal :-) Staff -helpful and very friendly. Pool -crowded with very loud kids but I didn't expect a zen, spa-like atmosphere. Neighborhood -a little shady. Bathroom -very clean. Common areas -nice and clean, loved the huge palm trees in the patio area Parking -very safe, next to the hotel Soundproofing - nope! Internet -free wi-fi Price -fair.

my stay in the hotel we a very nice stay. the hotel was very clean, pool was very accessable. it is in the center of town close to banks stores of all kinds. i tried the food at this hotel's resturant i wouldn't try it again. do not use the phone in this hotel. if you make a local call expect to be charged 39 cents a minute conection or not connect. also be for warned that if you make a call to the US it will cost you a wopping $7.00 a minute. A 19 minute call home cost me 567.00pesos. you figure it out !!!!!
