From the moment you pass through the unassuming wooden door off the ancient medina alleyway, Dar Anebar pulls you into a world that feels both timeless and deeply personal. This isn't just a riad — it's a home, and you feel that from the very first second. Ahmed — The Heart of It All Let's start where any honest review must: with Ahmed, the owner. This man is something else entirely. His warmth, generosity, and genuine passion for welcoming guests into his riad is infectious. He doesn't just run a beautiful property — he lives it, breathes it, and shares it with an openness that is increasingly rare in this world. Whether he's sitting with you over mint tea sharing stories of Fes, or quietly ensuring every detail of your stay is perfect, Ahmed's presence elevates the entire experience. He is, without question, one of the most remarkable hosts I have ever encountered anywhere in the world. The Aziz Boys & The Wonderful Staff And then there are the two Azizs — both waiters, both absolutely brilliant. Warm, funny, attentive without being overbearing, and always appearing at exactly the right moment with exactly what you needed — sometimes before you even knew you needed it. They carry Ahmed's spirit of hospitality beautifully and made every meal and every interaction genuinely joyful. The rest of the staff are equally wonderful — every single person you encounter here has a smile that feels completely real, and a kindness that stays with you long after you've left. The Riad Itself The architecture is a love letter to Moroccan craftsmanship — intricate hand-carved stucco walls, hand-painted zellige tilework that catches every shaft of sunlight, and a central courtyard fountain whose gentle trickling becomes the soundtrack to your entire stay. Every corner feels intentional, every detail considered. The Rooms Spacious, serene, and impossibly romantic. Dressed in rich fabrics, warm lantern light, and authentic antiques that tell the story of Fes itself — sleeping here feels like stepping back centuries without sacrificing a single modern comfort. The Rooftop Do not leave without spending an evening on the rooftop terrace. Watching the sun dip behind the minarets of the old medina with the call to prayer echoing across the rooftops, cold drink in hand, is a moment that will genuinely stay with you for life. The Breakfast Fresh breads, eggs, olives, honey, argan oil, homemade jams, and Moroccan pastries, coffee, tea, juice. — all served in the courtyard as morning light filters through the carved mashrabiya screens, delivered with a smile by the Aziz team. Absolute perfection. __________________________________________________ Dar Anebar isn't just a place to sleep — it's a place to feel. Ahmed and his incredible team have created something truly special in the heart of Fes. If you're visiting this ancient city and you don't stay here, you are simply doing it wrong. Highest possible recommendation. Come, and thank me later. 10/10. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
