Palais Didi

This riad is ideally located at the entrance to the Medina. The staff is very kind. The generous breakfast is very good. However, the riad is aging and needs some renovations. Not easy to find for taxis.

Nice Riad, but complete with the issues you might expect retrofitting electricity, water & sewer to a historic building. Our room was on the pool level, really the main roof area. We had a nice ensuite. There was however a power interruption that required an electrician be called. Fortunately it was corrected by the time we returned from dinner(except for the fridge). There is no elevator and the stairs are a little uneven in places. There is a second terrace another stair up which gave a wonderful view across the city at sunset, when the Storks came home to roost. Call to prayer is before dawn & some confused cock started crowing 2 hours earlier, just loud enough to arouse a jet-lagged traveller. Mattress is Moroccan standard hard & pillows are very firm. I travel with a "sheepskin"(cut from auto seat cover) & squash able memory foam pillow. While wifi is OK $7 CAD will get you a SIM card & 30 days cellular 5GB or 5Go in French, much better.

Greeted quite unfriendly by staff asking to see our booking and whether or not we had paid already. No Wi-Fi in room. Air conditioning does not work. Toilet leaking all over floor and belongings. State of bath/shower terrible. TV not connected. Swimming pool non functional. No extra power points. Room lighting poor. Certainly not 3.5 stars. Paid for 2 nights in advance/leaving after 1 night. 4 extensive trips throughout Morocco and by far the worst value for money. Booked through Hotel.com will not use them again. We have used Booking.com for years and years with no problems. Just booked another Riad in Meknes for tomorrow.
