Al Walid Hotel

2 star hotel very near to Casablanca train station, super convenient for travel to the airport or other major cities like Marrakech or Tangier. Some rooms have been refurbished and its worth asking for these as the other rooms are very tired. Refurbished rooms are also double glazed. Breakfast is good. Close to many cafes with reasonable pricing and the tram to the centre of Casablanca for more food options and shopping.

Stayed here one night as part of an Intrepid group tour. Convenient location for the train station. Rooms are pretty ok. Breakfast wasn’t that great but passable. I’ve taken points off because there was no hair dryer in the room and reception said they cannot provide one either. Such an easy fix, but they choose to withhold this convenience for guests.

This hotel was the meeting place for our Intrepid trip of Morocco and we stayed 2 extra nights ahead of the tour. Our stay was marred by a number of issues with the room: the room key didn't let us in and we had to go back to reception to get it reprogrammed. This happened every day. The shower flooded the bathroom and ran into the room, staff fixed by pulling a huge wad of hair out of the drain which should have been done as part of the cleaning; the water was cold until we called them and they were able to fix it; the airconditioning was not cooling and did not turn on most of the time; the room was noisy at night being near an area of heavy congested traffic and horns blaring constantly, though this quietened around 11 p.m. to allow for sleep. The staff were very receptive to our calls, and came and fixed every problem patiently, but seemed resigned to things not working well, and having to fix repeatedly. We heard similar issues from many of the other hotel guests. The hotel does not live up to it's advertised services. The hotel is not near any good restaurants we could find. Redeeming features: the breakfast was fine and offered a good variety of foods; it is conveniently near the Casa Voyageurs railway station. Until this hotel can get its act together, I rate it 2 star only.
