Brief one-night stay during flight connection in Casablanca. Stay was even shorter due to arrogance of front desk attendant who wanted to charge my card for my stay even though I said I would pay with points. I hold Platinum status in the hotel chain's loyalty program and had over €2000 in CREDIT.
Attendant was adamant that it wasn't possible to pay with points. He demanded a pre-authorization even though the hotel's only restaurant was closed. After a heated debate and threatening to sleep elsewhere, he finally let me in AFTER I LEFT MY PASSPORT AS GUARANTEE. Seriously. Obviously, the manager apologized the next day, but I don't believe he was sorry. They are probably doing it for every customer and in case you are arriving at 1am at a long flight like me, you might end up being charged unknowingly.
Breakfast was the usual standard in Muslim countries, awful.
But the proximity to the Casa Port train station makes up for it, even though if you look like a gringo, you will have to say no to half a dozen taxi drivers offering you a ride to the airport.
