Chez Larbi Ourika

A lunch just like at home Arriving for lunch at the table d'hôte of Chez Larbi, we mostly had the impression of being invited to a friend's house. The setting, in the heart of the Ourika Valley, is magnificent, but it is Larbi's welcome that makes all the difference: intelligent, cordial, and of rare kindness and benevolence. The discussions with him turned naturally, as between close friends, around the hotel industry in Marrakech and politics, but also around the cuisine, the region, and Moroccan and Berber traditions. You feel at ease right away, never rushed. The dishes, prepared with fresh produce from the garden and local markets, are generous, flavorful, and authentic—Moroccan salads, grilled skewers, and that orange salad with cinnamon, fresh and delicate at the end of the meal—each in the purest Moroccan tradition. During my last stay in Marrakech in October, a friend offered me an evening getaway in the Ourika Valley that I did not know. By car therefore for the guest house of Larbi. I arrived at night. A welcome as at home: human warmth, smiles, conviviality, pretty lights, heather furniture, lush vegetation. I felt at home instantly. After an excellent dinner shared with everyone, head to my room: we climb three steps, we descend two, we cross a patio, we see another one and finally I arrive on the first floor of one of the buildings: very nice room well decorated and well equipped. A perfect night, in absolute calm! Once breakfast is eaten in the garden, head to the hidden pool in another corner: quiet and discretion in the middle of the vegetation: top! All the staff are lovely, like Larbi who takes the time to spend with you to share her passion for trees and all the flora. Without any hesitation, I will go back!! Fred

I really didn’t expect to find a guest house with so many qualities in the Ourika Valley. Coming to the valley I avoided all places with the crowd and I went upstairs by chance to this guest house. The rooms are comfortable and very clean. We ate in the restaurant and what a surprise!!! Real Moroccan cuisine as if we were eating at home, Thank you very much to all the staffe especially the boss who received us as friends. Try see see you'll be won over
