Kasbah Igoudar Boutique hotel & spa

The setting of this hotel is absolutely stunning. Once you pass security, the grounds feel like a true oasis, and the views of the Atlas Mountains are incredible. The rooftop sunset alone is worth seeing. However, there are some practical drawbacks. The hotel is about an hour from Marrakech and located down a 1km dirt road, with nothing nearby — no shops, cafés, or alternatives. You are very dependent on the hotel once you arrive. Taxis are around €80 each way and not always reliable unless booked through the hotel (which is more expensive). There is also a rooster on the grounds that starts crowing very early in the morning, so light sleepers may want to bring earplugs. Rooms are quite dated with limited natural light, and there appears to be a significant variation in the “standard” rooms. Some feel extremely basic and confined — almost cell-like — while others are more opulent in decor but unfortunately have a noticeable sewerage smell. Both types are billed at the same price, which feels inconsistent given the difference in experience. Some basic functionality was also missing (e.g., a fridge and lamp with no available sockets, limited working plug points). There are two outdoor pools but neither heated. The indoor pool requires an additional fee to use and wasn’t available for most of our stay — it only opened on our last day, which conveniently happened to be the one cloudy day. There is one restaurant with a limited menu. Breakfast is included but fixed and repetitive. If you have dietary restrictions (especially gluten-free), options are very limited. Food and water are expensive on site. That said, the staff are genuinely excellent — friendly, helpful, and doing their best with the resources available. Overall: If you’re looking for total peace, mountain views, and don’t mind isolation (and an early wake-up call from a rooster), this may suit you. Just come prepared with essentials, as there’s little flexibility once you’re there. Pictures online are very old versions so I have added a few for context (Feb 2026 and room 1:02)

We had private transfer from the airport which was great and efficient. The hotel was an hours drive from the airport. However, our driver and co-driver stopped the car on the side of the main road and told us we had to go into a random Aragon oil shop. It was clearly a ploy to get us to buy something! We stayed for 5 minutes and asked to leave again. We arrived to our hotel and we were met by the lovely staff who insisted we have Moroccan tea by the pool. It was sunny and warm and we were happy to be at the hotel. We were told our room would not be ready on the first night so they would put us in a temporary room! It was APPALLING!! Freezing ice cold, a small dimplex heater, a broken toilet seat, the pipes covering fell off the wall, we had to leave the water run for 10mins in the shower before it got hot. We were so cold in the room we had to ask for more blankets. The following day they moved us to a better room. A little dated, but better and with heating. The breakfast was the same every morning. Small omelette, bread roll, juice, cake, a “porridge” like bowl, bread dips and plenty of coffee. The indoor poor was not operating, the steam room and the jacuzzi also not working. There was literally nothing to do all day in the hotel. We did the Hamam and facial in the hotel. The facial left me with bruises on my face for 4 days. I think the beautician may have used a hoover on my face!! We did the Ourika Valley trip on the third day which was absolutely beautiful. We went and stayed in a riad in Marrakesh for 2 nights and came back to the hotel. I’m so glad we went to Marrakesh because we would have gone mad in the hotel with nothing to do. We couldn’t leave the hotel grounds as there was nowhere to go and it felt unsafe but I may go back to shoot the rooster who woke us every morning at 6 o clock!! The dinner was good and plenty. The staff were helpful, kind and did what they could to help. The room was cleaned everyday and fresh towels supplied. There was no little shop to buy toiletries or bits which we missed. We paid for a 10 night holiday but we had to leave on the 7th day. It had been raining for 5 days and we were going a little crazy. The scenery and mountains were majestic and I’m sure if the sun was shining it would have been a lovely stay by the pool. I don’t think it should be called a wellness hotel because I definitely have PTSD after my trip! I won’t return to this hotel again.

Just wanted to write a review on our experience from the 21.11.25 till the 24.11.25. Now we didn’t mind staying an hour from the capital and the drive was very beautiful with the huge mountains in the distance and a view of the dessert, but the hotel it self is nowhere near a 5*. On the first night our shower was freezing cold, not hot water at all. Had to go and find staff to fix the issue, which I did give to them was fairly quick. There was a few stains on the floors and had to clean our own toilet as well. The shower head didn’t work properly. We didn’t spend a lot of time in the hotel to be honest. On the Saturday we had breakfast, we didn’t have a choice on what we wanted, it was a set meal. We had meals included but all drinks had to be paid for! Including water. The bread on our breakfast was moldy so we barely ate anything. We booked a taxi with the hotel as our driver was not awake on the Sunday and they charged us 400dhms (the hotel charged us) where as our driver charges us 250dhms or 300 for out of ours. PLEASE DONT FALL FOR THEIR PRICES. On Sunday we had dinner, which was basic but edible enough for us. We also got told there was a heated pool we could use but when we went in there was no water in the pool. On check out which we had to leave the hotel by 8am for our flight. There was no one at the desk and the only the security guard. We then got told to wait as we had to pay city fee which was 100 dhms each, but the security guard spoke no English and had to ring one of the employees to explain to us what we are paying for and was over all just rude on the phone. I found if we weren’t speaking French they had basically 0 interest in us. To sum it up I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. The only nice side of the hotel was the actual views of the mountains and it looks pretty from the outside
