We stayed 4 days in this riad, everything went well but when I returned my gold necklace, had disappeared from my toiletry bag, I had removed it for massages, the riad replied that it was my word against that of the maid and my word was not the right, for having talked about it with a friend who stayed in the riad the same happened to her a few years ago the gift still wrapped for the 50th birthday of her friend had disappeared a gold necklace. Certainly there is a safe but when the riad is privatised I thought I had full confidence in God that I was wrong.

If you want to stay in the heart of Marrakech without feeling swallowed by the chaos, Riad Villa Wenge & Spa is a strong option. It’s tucked inside the Medina, just minutes from Jemaa el-Fna, but positioned in a way that keeps things surprisingly calm once you step inside. The riad itself is intimate — only a handful of rooms — which makes the experience feel personal instead of transactional. And honestly, what makes this place stand out isn’t just the decor. It’s Abdou and Aziz. Their hospitality sets the tone from the moment you arrive. That alone changes the entire stay. --- Service & Hospitality ★★★★★ (5/5) This is where they shine. Abdou is present, attentive, and genuinely invested in making sure you’re good. Aziz handles things smoothly after hours and makes sure nothing feels neglected. Every recommendation — food, excursions, navigating the Medina — felt intentional, not random. The welcome tea and pastries? Solid touch. Breakfast? Consistently strong. Dinner on property? Surprisingly excellent. You won’t regret eating there at least once. ✔️ Genuine, hands-on hospitality ✔️ Clear, mapped-out guidance for exploring ✔️ Easy help arranging transfers and excursions No fake smiles. Just real care. Rooms ★★★★☆ (4.5/5) The rooms are clean, well-kept, and comfortable. Moroccan style with modern touches — nothing overdone. I stayed in an upper-level room, which worked well. Just know the walls are on the thinner side. If you’re on a lower level near common areas, you may hear movement in the mornings or when guests return at night. Not a deal breaker — just something to be aware of. ✔️ Clean and comfortable ✔️ Nicely styled without trying too hard ✔️ Well maintained ❌ Lower-level rooms may feel smaller and less private If you’re a super light sleeper, request upper level. Hotel Grounds & Amenities ★★★★☆ (4.4/5) The courtyard is peaceful. The rooftop is a nice bonus. The spa and hammam are good — but here’s where I’ll give you honest feedback. The spa setup could be improved. There isn’t really a private changing area, so you’re expected to undress beforehand and walk through the courtyard in a robe. Some people won’t care. Others might feel awkward. A simple private changing space and slippers would elevate that experience immediately. ✔️ Relaxing courtyard ✔️ Rooftop terrace with jacuzzi ✔️ On-site spa and hammam ❌ Spa experience could be better thought out --- Location & Accessibility ★★★★★ (4.5/5) You’re in the Medina. That’s the point. You’re steps from Jemaa el-Fna, the souks, restaurants — everything. But here’s the reality: if you arrive around 3–4 PM, taxis can’t drive all the way in because parts of the square close to cars. You’ll be dropped off and walk about 7–10 minutes. First time? It may feel confusing. The alleyways all start looking the same. Google Maps isn’t always reliable in there. It’s not a deal breaker. It’s part of the experience. ✔️ True Medina immersion ✔️ Central but surprisingly quiet ✔️ Easy walking access to everything ❌ Can be disorienting for first-time visitors Ask locals if needed — they’ll point you in the right direction. Overall Experience ★★★★☆ (4.75/5) You’re not staying here for panoramic window views. You’re staying here for location, service, and authenticity. And on those three things, they deliver. It may seem inconvenient to be that deep in the Medina, but once you understand the layout, you’ll realize you’re positioned perfectly — close to the energy without sleeping inside it. If you skip this place just because it doesn’t have large windows or wide views, you might regret it. Traveler’s Tip Tip 1: Put Bendir Rooftop into your map instead of the riad name. Villa Wenge’s entrance is right next to it at the end of the alleyway. You’ll see Bendir Rooftop signs guiding you in. When you walk up the alley, you’ll pass a handwoven rug shop. Keep going. When you can turn right and see Bendir signage, follow that path to the end. It removes 80% of the confusion. Tip 2: Abdou, can make your buying experience even more satisfying. Take pictures of items you want and find out if he can assist with the purchase. Time is money so respect his time and tip accordingly. If you want the full Moroccan "get ripped" off experience feel free to go barter with vendors yourself. I am 100% guaranteed you will lose. Note: Abdou does not offer this server AT ALL while he is working. But it never hurts to ask if he can help out on his free time. So please respect his time at work since he is there to service others. --- ✔️ Best Suited For: ✔️ Couples wanting an intimate stay ✔️ Travelers who value service over size ✔️ People who want real Medina immersion ✔️ Guests comfortable navigating alleyways --- ❌ Not Ideal For: ❌ Travelers who want resort-style amenities ❌ Guests needing large, modern hotel layouts ❌ Anyone uncomfortable walking 5–10 minutes with luggage --- Value for Money ★★★★☆ (4.7/5) For what you get — location, personalized service, breakfast quality, and overall experience — it’s priced fairly. You’re not paying for flash. You’re paying for hospitality and positioning. And in Marrakech, that matters.

TIP: Book a taxi through the Riad from the airport to ensure you to get to the door of the Riad (we did not and could not find it as not signposted). Amazing stay, very calming and serene in the Riad. Aziz, Abdul, Karim and the rest of the team were amazing and went above and beyond for us. They were so helpful with directions and organising things for us. Really nice people to have met. The place is spotlessly clean. The location is so central.
