Dar El Kebira

I went back and forth between 3 and 4 stars for Dar El Kebira. The positives: the staff are very nice and helpful, the breakfast was lavish and I greatly enjoyed the dinner I had here. The terrace offers great views and is a pleasant place to relax. If you are interested in the beach or the kasbah, the hotel is very convenient to both. What was less nice was the room itself. While the room was beautiful on the surface, this isn't the same as being comfortable or practical for the guest. My room was very narrow, such that I ended up getting in and out of bed by climbing up from the bottom of the bed. The room was also quite humid and I saw more than a few ants. The bathtub looked cool, but the shower curtain was too long and the tub was too narrow. So water got on the floor even as I felt afraid of slipping on the curtain. It may be that my concerns would not be an issue in other rooms.

We stayed here for 4 nights in this authentic beautiful riad just within the medina. We had a lovely room called Chellah which was narrow but long with very high ceilings, just as you would expect from a riad. I slept better here than I do at home! Very quiet. Big bathroom and comfortable bed. Excellent air conditioning. Water pressure very good. Room cleaned daily. Breakfast was delicious and the staff are brilliant and provide that personal service that you simply won’t get in a big hotel. We had a lovely dinner here one night. The chicken pastilla was delicious! There is a roof terrace that you have access to 24/7. The location of the riad was perfect for us! We loved the medina. Rabat is a great place to visit, less hectic than other Moroccan cities and less touristy! Overall, we had an excellent short holiday in Rabat and the riad far exceeded our expectations. Thank you to all the staff who made us feel so welcome! It was beautiful.

Very beautiful authentic riad. Well located. Warm welcome. Comfortable room. Refined food. A true delight for the taste buds. Very pleasant breakfast on the terrace. Very friendly staff. A place we will remember.
