We spent a night in this beautiful riad in Salé during our travels and felt welcome and comfortable from the very first moment. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed with traditional mint tea, which immediately made us feel at home. We especially want to highlight the kind older gentleman who welcomed us. Despite some minor communication issues, he took such heartfelt and attentive care of us that we felt right at home. His warm demeanor particularly stands out in our memory. The riad itself is completely authentic and typically Moroccan in decor – just as one would wish. Everything was very clean and well-maintained; there is truly nothing to criticize. Although we had to travel early the next morning, the gentleman even prepared coffee and croissants for us, which we found incredibly thoughtful and hospitable. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks and can wholeheartedly recommend this riad to anyone!

Riad Dar Nawfal Using riads where possible for our two weeks in Morocco we were in search for two double rooms single use, and we underestimated the high season weeks and of October. What looked like a last moment compromise turned out a true find in the heart of Salé’s. Like in Marrakesh before, the 2* hotel classification does not reflect the whole situation. Although a “historic” building there was all we were hoping for – clean rather spacious, clean rooms; a peaceful inner courtyard and nice rooftop; ok Wi-Fi, the sights of the medina in easy walking distance. We arrived by train from Fez and although it would have been “walking-distance” from the station we asked transfer assistance and were met by a friendly taxi driver who also helped with our suitcases in the hotel, and we booked him immediately for our departure from Rabat Ville station. Using the modern (AC, free Wi-Fi) and efficient tram, doing Rabat from that base was easy. Using the boat-ferry we even walked back from Rabat. Breakfast is included, tea whenever we wanted – no other food service though. Upon arrival Sarah (speaks English, French Arabic) directed us to the nearby “Lbourj café restaurant”, not very charming but clean and fresh seafood at the lowest thinkable prices. The stand still during Covid may have interrupted a success-story.
