I booked this hotel in August 2026 for next August 2027 to see the eclipse. The booking was “free cancellation” and “pay at property.” £189 for 4 nights. I thought I did not need to think about it again until next July. But 2 days after I booked, I was surprised to find £110.60(MAD1350) taken out of my bank account by this hotel. I don’t know what this was for as it didn’t even match the hotel rate and anyway I should not pay anything yet. This made me cancel immediately and message the property demanding a prompt refund. The hotel failed to reply so I contacted booking.com. I corresponded with their AI robots and I was told to screenshot the statement . It took 12 days of chasing the hotel on whatsapp and through booking.com until the hotel eventually said they deposited the refund sending me a pic of a deposit slip. The 4 digits on the deposit slip match my debit card number but 4 days later it has not arrived in my UK bank account. Booking.com say it can take up to 14 days, I am not confident I will ever get it. And even if I do, the currency conversion charges will be paid by me for the wrongdoing of someone else. Whether I ever get the refund or not, this hotel is not to be trusted. And after this I am now afraid to book hotels on hotel booking websites, especially using booking.com. The hotel should never have even been able to take money from me like that and has made me worry about my bank account security. How can a hotel just get money from my account without my agreement and not even related to my booking? BE CAREFUL WHEN BOOKING HOTELS THORUGH HOTEL BOOKING WEBSITES, ESPECIALLY THIS ONE!!!!!!!!!

Spacious room and large bed. Very clean linen and comfortable bedding, even if firm. Decent bathroom but ⚠️ dangerous, it slips a lot. The elevator is a plus. The welcome was not amazing nor very smiling, but let's move on. Reduced breakfast with few choices.

A beautiful little family-run hotel in Chefchaouen. The staff is extrememly friendly and helpful. The food is exceptional.
