New Kyaing Tong

Location is good and near town centre and the lake. The room was spacious and clean. I found the smaller things annoying, lack of convenient power sockets, terrible wifi and a hard bed. The bathroom is very very tired, Not that uncommon in Myanmar, some of the common areas are becoming tired too. Having said that cant complain for $35/night including breakfast and I did stay another night,

This hotel is built on the grounds where the Kengtung Palace used to be. All that remains now are the palace walls which double up as the perimeter walls of this hotel. I stayed in a deluxe room which was spacious and clean and overlooking the pool. (There were families using the pool both days i was there.) Room decor was a bit dated but it is quite common in Myanmar as are the power outages in the middle of the nights I was there. Wifi signal was also very strong in my room when I was there. Staff were helpful and friendly and could speak decent English. Breakfast was a variety of choices from a menu. I ordered Shan noodles soup and eggs one day so i am assuming guests could order however much they want from the menu. Location is good as it is a very short walk to the lake where there are many food options. Will stay here again if I return to Kengtung.

I actually changed hotels when I arrived in Keng Tung and ended up staying here. Thomas showed me a couple of rooms and let me pick which was I liked and was very friendly and made me feel instantly at ease. The rooms are spacious and big, spotlessly clean and the location great. I also paid a reasonable price through bookeing with wotif. The only reason I give it 4 stars and not 5 is the bathroom which is on the small side.
