This hotel is not worth the price and the 4 star status it has. The rooms were in bad condition, the breakfast horrible. But the terrible part is that I got a terrible food poisoning and had to be hospitalized. I was staying in the hotel during a business trip and didn’t eat anywhere else: I had breakfast and lunch in the hotel (and all the food the day before), closer to the evening I started feeling really bad - vomiting, diarrhea, high fever. Had to take a taxi to the international hospital where I was admitted. The hotel staff didn’t offer any support nor any help. When I returned to the hotel two days later to pack my thing before taking the flight back to my home country, I asked for a manager and wanted to file a formal complaint and request a reimbursement of my stay. I was told that they will consider my claim and get back to me by email promising I will receive a compensation. Few days later I received an email from the manager who said that they are not responsible for the food poisoning because no one else got poisoned during those days in their hotel (great justification). You should avoid this hotel at all costs - to save your money and health.

I have stayed at Hotel Himalaya several times and my experiences have varied. Overall, I would describe it as a pleasant hotel with many positive aspects, but one that is increasingly in need of renovation. One of the hotel's greatest strengths is the property itself. It is a large hotel in a convenient location with a beautiful, spacious garden that creates a peaceful atmosphere. The swimming pool is a welcome feature, and while the spa is decent, both the spa and some public areas could benefit from improved maintenance and cleanliness. The quality of the rooms depends very much on which category you book. The top-floor rooms are noticeably more pleasant than the standard rooms. They are spacious and feature a split-level design, with a small change in elevation between the sleeping area and the seating area [sofa is too soft for my kiking]. Large panoramic windows provide plenty of natural light during the day, and the bathrooms are generously sized. If you take a room towards the back of the property you look into trees and its great for bird watching! Even these rooms, however, are beginning to show their age and would benefit from refurbishment. Business travellers should be aware of a couple of practical drawbacks. The lighting in my room was not bright enough for comfortable work after dark, and there were no convenient power outlets next to the bed for charging a phone or other devices overnight. The standard rooms feel more dated, and I found the standard of housekeeping to be somewhat inconsistent between my different stays. The staff are generally a positive aspect of the hotel. While service at reception and in the restaurant ranges from rather indifferent to genuinely welcoming, the housekeeping staff consistently stand out for their friendliness, helpfulness, and professionalism. Breakfast is probably the hotel's weakest point. The selection is reasonable, but it changes very little from day to day. If you stay for several days, the lack of variety becomes noticeable. Breakfast can also get very busy, as the hotel is a popular venue for conferences, weddings, and other large events. At times, these events also make the otherwise beautiful garden feel rather crowded. On the positive side, the hotel's restaurant is OK and especially the bar is very enjoyable. The à la carte menu offers a good selection of yummy local and international dishes. The bar staff deserve special recognition—they are friendly, professional, and make the bar a great place to spend an evening. One aspect that left me with some concerns was the handling of fire alarms. During my most recent stay, several alarms sounded during the night. Although these appeared to be false alarms or minor incidents, there was little visible staff response and no communication with guests. This left me wondering how emergency procedures are managed and communicated in practice. Hopefully, this was simply an isolated operational issue, but it was not particularly reassuring. Overall, Hotel Himalaya remains a comfortable hotel with attractive grounds, good food, and many dedicated staff members. However, inconsistent room quality, aging facilities, repetitive breakfast offerings, and a few operational shortcomings mean it no longer stands out as it perhaps once did. For me, it is a good hotel with clear strengths, but one that would benefit greatly from a comprehensive renovation.

I visited this hotel to celebrate my sister's birthday, and unfortunately, the experience completely ruined what was supposed to be a special day. We chose this hotel because we expected warmth, comfort, and the genuine hospitality that a place of this standard should provide. Unfortunately, the experience was the opposite. Although the property itself is beautiful, the overall atmosphere did not feel welcoming. There were numerous restrictions on where guests could go and take photos, even as paying customers. While I understand that hotels have policies, they should be communicated clearly and handled with kindness and professionalism. What made us especially uncomfortable was that several members of the hotel administration/staff gathered nearby while we were taking photos. Whether intentional or not, it made us feel watched, singled out, and uncomfortable during what was meant to be a joyful celebration. The customer service was disappointing and lacked the warmth and hospitality we expected from a hotel of this level. A hotel experience is not only about the location or appearance of the property, it is also about how guests are treated and how they feel while they are there. I have visited this hotel before, but after this experience, I will not be returning. Sadly, I cannot recommend this place to friends or family. A beautiful property cannot compensate for an experience where guests do not feel welcomed or valued.
