Novotel Breda Hotel

It was announced 2 months in advance that my booking was cancelled because this hotel suddenly had to receive asylum seekers...?

We stayed 6 nights. Good quiet hotel. Very smiling staff. Good restaurant and another good restaurant right next door. Standard novotel rooms, nothing to say. In the bathroom, it is a very high bathtub and a bit difficult to access. It's a shame they're not showers. The only problem is the cleaning done very superficially only on request: bed made, bathroom with change of towels and emptied garbage cans. No vacuum cleaners or dirty glass changes. It is a shame that there is no bottle of water available in the room while there is coffee and tea.

Warning, check if it is the time of year where they host football teams. The 3 teams that booked in for weekend of 27th Jun were abysmally behaved. Yelling and slamming doors at 0430 and ignoring the hotel managers pleas to behave for over 40 mins, continuing to scream, yell, slam doors, running up the corridors until gone 5am. Prior to that they were blasting music out of their rooms with zero consideration for ither guests. I have no issue with youngsters having a laugh, but this was out of order and to ignore the managers pleas for over 40 mins was unacceptable. To add misery we were made to wait for over an hour, with no prior warning of this, for the food we ordered. When two out of four plates arrived, one was cold and had to be sent back. It took another 20 mins for it to come back, along with the other 2 meals we were waiting for and all they had done was microwave the food. To make it worse, the surf and turf was so badly cooked the prawns couldn't be eaten. When we asked why it was taking so long we were told they were busy, there were 8 people in the restaurant, when I pointed this out we were told its because of the football team and they were prioritising preparing all their food for TOMORROW. If they had told us there would have been a wait we could have gone to the restaurant over the road. It is poor organisational skills to only plan staff to cover the following days food demand, with restaurant guests being squeezed in between leading to over hour long waits, cold food, and poor quality is not acceptable to then be woken up by the screaming and shouting made this stay awful. In addition the walls are thin so you can hear your neighbours talking. We do not recommend. Oh, and if you book through booking.com, booking.com charge the hotel a fee, but the hotel pass that fee on to you.
