Amsterdam Marriott Hotel

Centrally located hotel. Friendly staff. The restaurant has very good breakfast. We took alacarte on 2 days. If you purchase American buffet then it is 25$/day, but you have to purchase for all the days you are going to stay. Continental buffet is cheaper but includes inly the cold items. I found the hallways not to he smelling good. Would stay here again. Walking distance to restaurants, museums and shopping area. Away from the red light district.

We had an OK experience at the Amsterdam Marriott Hotel: The Positives: 1) The hotel is in a great location. It is within walking distance to the Van Gogh Museum, Rijks Museum, and the Moco Museum. Vondelpark is also right next door. The Anne Frank Museum is about a 20-minute walk away. There are many restaurants within a 10-minute walk from the hotel. 2) There is an executive lounge called the M Club which is decent. Breakfast, evening light bites, and coffee throughout the day is a nice perk if you have status with Marriott Bonvoy. The Areas for Opportunity: 1) The hotel including the room we stayed in is dated. The room also did not feel clean. 2) Service was just adequate. They do their job but don’t expect exceptional service. Even if there are people waiting in line to speak with the concierge, the staff took their time chatting with each other. At the M Club, service is a hit or miss. 3) Despite our status, we were given probably the worst rooms in our room category which is very different from the best Marriott properties we stayed at.

I completed a 5 night stay at this hotel and overall it was a great experience. A few highlights: 1. Front desk manager was very professional when our room wasn’t ready at 5:30 pm. She communicated well and personally delivered our keys to us in the M Club. 2. Book an M Club Room. With the heat, the M club saved us. We could easily pop in for a soda or water on our way to/from our activities. Food was significant and good. Breakfast was the same every day but happy hour options rotated. I appreciated they had Heineken Zero, too. Many juices and soda available. My son uses a lot of ketchup, so I also appreciated the small bottles available all day that I could grab for dinners/lunch out. Finally, they had all day peanuts and small candies in little pouches that I would take with us for great snacks later in the day. 3. We did a balcony suite with a rollaway bed. The room was very large with two eating areas and a couch. I was surprised the coach was not a sofa bed, as there is tons of space. But instead you’re limited to one rollaway. We were on the 11th floor, so that gave us great views of the city. The shower was amazing. I’m not sure if every room has this, but it was a walk in with 3 shower heads and a huge bench. It was a pleasant surprise. 4. The AC - the temp was over 100 degrees yesterday and the AC could not keep up. In the evenings the room became very stuffy and hot, making it hard to sleep. But I don’t think this level of heat happens often, so during normal temps, I’ll guess the AC is adequate. 5. We did room service twice. The price for kids items was very good, and the kids like their food. 6. You can preorder to-go breakfast with the front desk if you have an early flight. Things we found tricky: 1. The lobby is always packed. The staff seems to move everyone through quickly enough, but I would have to wait awhile to be able to talk to the concierge. 2. There was not a bellman/doorman there when left at 6:30 am. So when another family took our pre arranged cab for the airport, it was a struggle to get another one ordered with the lobby because they were helping other guests (and thank god I still had my keycard so I could get back inside). 3. The concierge did not have a working knowledge of which restaurants have a kids menu. 4. M club was very busy during happy hour and we had to wait for seats to open up. Overall a positive experience for our family and wouldn’t hear again (hopefully in cooler weather).
