A beautiful and pleasant experience. Really nice, clean and well and quietly located hotel just walking distance from the Leidseplein. Owners and staff very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

After a three-hour drive, we were called 50 km before Amsterdam and were told that the hotel was overbooked (!!!) but that they had found and booked another hotel for us. This (Hotel V) was an absolute outrage. Beetles, mold, and 31° in the room without air conditioning. Not even worth one star. We then looked for a replacement ourselves (Hotel Notting Hill, 4 stars and $50 cheaper).
Sorry, but that is not how you treat customers........

So….as everyone know, Amsterdam lodging is very very expensive. This was somewhat reasonably priced. The hotel is in a residential neighborhood at least a 30 min walk from most of the tourist attractions for first time visitors. The museums are around a 15-20 min walk. Consequently it’s MUCH quieter than the main tourist area. I was worried that it would be too far but it’s so much quieter it’s worth it. Plus it’s close to the Albert Cuypt market if you’re dow for that. There’s a metro station very close by and it’s an easy ride to and from the main station. I arrived very early and while my room wasn’t ready at first, it was ready after about 20 min so shout out to housekeeping. Also, Julia from the desk went above and beyond to give advice and recommendations. She was great. I was a solo traveller so I booked the single room. It’s the smallest room I’ve ever stayed in and that includes pods in NYC. But, for one person, it’s fine. There were hangars but no drawers. No fridge. No kettle. There’s a small nespresso type machine but I’m a tea drinker so even when I ran hot water, it still tasted like coffee. The bathroom was well appointed and a decent size. Has a slight “damp” smell to it because the door has to be shut to enter and exit the room proper. The smell gets better if you’re in the room and leave the bathroom door open. There are plenty of outlets which is nice. It’s a thin type mattress but I thought it was very comfortable. It gets pretty stuffy but with the window open and the fan on, it was great for the end of April. I would imagine it could get very very warm in the summer. I’ve seen complaints about being by the lift but I didn’t have any issues with that despite the hotel being full and right next to the lift in 221. Overall, I’m glad I chose this hotel. They were very nice and it’s super quiet. I’d definitely stay again.
