Avenue Hotel Amsterdam

For two nights out of 3 my room was not cleaned nor was fresh bath linen provided. After reporting it, I was told that it can happen, twice. Breakfast is meager, the fruit available apparently had actually gone bad and gave me diarrhea. The first morning the coffee machine was broken. In short, really not recommended, apart from the location, but there are many other alternatives.

This hotel is cheap and in a great location. It is clean and tidy and the room was very well presented. My only criticisms are that it looks a bit tired with some threadbare bits of carpet in the hallways and, when I had an issue with the key not working, the receptionist looked as miserable as sin and didn't seem to want to help, but had too!

⭐️⭐️☆☆☆ The location of Hotel Avenue is excellent, very close to Amsterdam Centraal and the main attractions. Unfortunately, that was the best part of our stay. The room was extremely small and the bathroom was in poor condition. Upon arrival, we found hair on the floor and the shower had mold or accumulated dirt in the silicone. That same night we discovered that the drain was clogged and, every time we showered, the bathroom flooded, forcing us to walk on water to use the toilet. I want to highlight that the reception staff on the first night was very kind. Since there was no cleaning staff available, they themselves went up to try to clean the bathroom, although, of course, they could not completely resolve the problem. In contrast, the manager the next day was unresponsive, and the only immediate solution was to give us towels so that we could dry the floor ourselves. Although they offered to change our room the next day and Hotels.com granted us a compensation of $50, we had already lost trust in the hotel and decided to end our stay and move to another hotel. A good location should never compensate for poor cleanliness, a flooded bathroom, and inadequate management of such an obvious problem. Unfortunately, we would not stay here again.
