I have stayed in this hotel for 3 times in the past and my rating had been 5/5. Unfortunately, this is the last time I stay here since my most recent experience was far from being great.
1) In the past the used to have a cozy lobby with a serve your self section with plenty of snacks and beverages. You consumed then you paid, which is normal in this type of hotels. Now you must pay first and then the lobby attendants open the locks for you.
2) Service at the lobby is poor. The two ladies in charge are far from being friendly.
3) Conditions of the family room were not as expected. Doors looked old. Room was noisy.
The area is fantastic but try searching a little bit more. There are plenty of options around.

The hotel was clean and in a great location, with trams 2 and 24 running directly to Centraal Station. Major attractions like the Van Gogh Museum, Moco Museum and more were only a couple of minutes away, and Vondelpark was right around the corner, which is stunning and vibrant. The Dutch staff and the man who prepared breakfast were very friendly, but most of the other staff were not welcoming at all. The honesty bar was kept locked, and they wouldn’t open it unless you paid first, which felt quite uninviting. Breakfast overall was below par, with a much smaller selection than I’ve had at another chain hotel during a previous stay in Amsterdam. I’d definitely stay in this area again, but not at this hotel.

This review concerns a stay that went very well in December 2025, but I had the horrible surprise of finding out that they attempted to charge me a second time, 6 months later: on June 22, 2026, for a significant amount that is double what I paid in December! And without authorization!
They keep the credit card details and a copy of the ID 6 months later! It is not legal.
I have seen on some forums that I am not the only one in this situation. Is it the hotel directly or their data management system?
Here is my story: I stayed at this hotel in Amsterdam (JLN076) in December 2025. I paid at the reception, I have the receipt, they also took a copy of my ID. But 6 months later, they are trying to charge me an amount that comes out of nowhere: €633, I was lucky that my account was not funded! Otherwise, the payment would have gone through and it would have been a hassle to recover the money. I contacted the hotel by email, and they replied that there had been a mistake because a customer had the same name as mine, which misled their data system, but that the payment would never have gone through without my authorization; I have proof that this is not true, the real reason for the refusal is that my account was not funded.
They do not have the right to keep bank details in customer files, especially not for 6 months!
I consulted international forums with customers who had the same scam experience with hotels that use this same data management system (Mews). But they struggled to recover the money, and some are still in a battle. They keep customers' credit card data in their files, and it is not legal. Just like keeping a copy of the ID.
I can advise all travelers to change their credit card upon returning from their stay, to avoid facing payments that you did not authorize.
