Scam at €250 per night: Uninhabitable conditions and legal noncompliance in Amsterdam Paying €250 per night at The Old Nickel for the last day of our three-week trip through Europe turned out to be an unacceptable scam and an absolute disrespect to the consumer. Arriving exhausted and with headaches to find these facilities is outrageous. First of all, the hotel assigns rooms on a fourth floor accessible only via narrow and dangerous spiral stairs, with no elevator. Carrying luggage under these conditions, after weeks of travel, is a physical and logistical risk that is not clearly warned about. The room itself is an uninhabitable oven. The indoor temperature reached almost 40 degrees Celsius. The only "solution" from the hotel is to provide two fans that merely blow hot air, worsening the heat. In addition to this, the outlets in the room do not work, preventing the charging of basic electronic devices. I formally invite the owner of this establishment to pay €250 out of his own pocket and stay in this same fourth-floor room. I doubt he would be able to endure a single night in the inhumane conditions he offers to his customers. Renting these spaces at that price is ridiculous and a blatant scam. From a legal standpoint, this establishment is violating the legislation of the Netherlands. According to the Dutch Civil Code (*Burgerlijk Wetboek*), Book 6, Article 74, there is a clear breach of contract (*Wanprestatie*), as the service provided lacks the minimum conditions of habitability and does not meet what was offered. Furthermore, these practices can be reported to the Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) for misleading advertising and poor services. Avoid this place at all costs. It is not worth even a fraction of what they charge.

Good price for Amsterdam (103 Euros). Stairs with case manageable. No aircom but fan, room clean/"cosy". Recommend if u want location/price.
