Hotel Old Quarter

Great location, great breakfast, great atmosphere. BUT, they charged me city tax on arrival which I don't mind, but but I had already paid in the original booking. They insisted on my paying even though I showed them the booking receipt showing the taxes were included. The couple just prior to us also questioned this and showed them their proof they paid all taxes with the booking. We waited 20 minutes to check in while they took that entire time to help one person. The rooms are very small and slightly rickety as are the stairs of which there are more than 2 or 3 sets to get to the rooms, i.e. quite unsafe!!!!

Arrived at the hotel and we were checked in early which was nice. However told we got a upgrade. Well wasn't quite the upgrade we expected. Tiny room, nice view of the canal but freezing! Woken at 5am every morning by staff banging and crashing in the store room opposite! The room was freezing cold as level with the canal. The cooked breakfast was cold every morning and no English breakfast tea. The staff were very hospitable and nice but it wasn't up to scratch. Wouldn't recommend or stay again.

Stayed here for 3 nights and overall enjoyed our stay. Staff were friendly and helpful, the bar downstairs was nice and great for an evening drink. Although small, the room was clean and served us well. If you want a double bed, you will need to leave a request when booking, which i didn't realise so had to make do with twin. Breakfast was good quality with good variety, my only criticism is availability of cooked items, they would run out fairly quick when it's busy (it was eventually replenished) so make sure you go early. Location is amazing, couple of minutes from Centraal station and in prime are a for wandering around. Would recommend and provided good value for money.
