New West Inn Amsterdam

We stayed at this hotel the last week of July, in a family room (the only positive thing is that the room was large), the beds were very very uncomfortable, the mattresses sunken, the curtains torn, dead flies in the light fixture (many), the bathroom is large but very old, a lot of dust on the carpet, it does not have air conditioning. We booked breakfast, in theory it was a buffet, there was very little variety and when it ran out it was not replenished, when an hour had passed since breakfast opened there was no juice of any kind left. Given how far it is from the center and the conditions of the hotel, I do not recommend it.

So, this was a budget break and the choice of hotels were limited, so we chose this one. From Amsterdam Central, we took the No 27 Sprinter Tram to Hoekenes and then had a further 10min walk or so from there. To be fair the hotel is quiet as other guests have confirmed. It is in a residential area between 2 schools and shops. Facilities are very basic. Hotel is clean and a good base if you don't mind the 45 min commute to Amsterdam centre. If I go back to Amsterdam, I'd recommend staying near the Dam area, only a short tram ride or walk from the centre of Amsterdam.

Absolutely disgusting don’t go here,it’s dirty not safe they have polo styrene celinings which is a massive fire hazard, don’t know what maids are getting paid for because it isn’t clean it’s like a hostel it also sleeps asylum seekers which wasn’t put on the description the area was like staying in the absolute dumps the hotel looks nothing like the pictures especially on outside they take a £100 deposit off you that wasn’t in the description either when the rooms are definitely not worth £100 it’s not modern it needs a massive make over didn’t feel safe at all towels had stains and the fabric was comming apart didn’t even unpack because it was that dirty we arrived on the 19th at 8pm left at 2pm the next day when we was supposed to be staying for 4 days DO NOT COME HERE NO MATTER HOW CHEAP IT IS it cost around £50-£80 for a taxi from center by black cab at early hours
