Quentin Golden Bear Hotel

The location was perfect for what we wanted, the walk into more ‘central’ Amsterdam was easy enough. The staff were friendly when we checked in and out. The deposit we put on a debit card and they said it could take up to 30 days to return but we had it back after only a couple of days. The room was clean enough and the bed was comfortable, although I would say it is a basic hotel for the amount we paid. The wardrobe felt very unstable and creaky despite it being a renovated room and there was no shower gel in the bathroom which is always just a nice finishing touch. Our room was at the back of the hotel and we couldn’t hear any street noise or anything at night time. I would stay again!

For the price we paid for 2 nights, I would have expected A LOT better from our room. We were on the top floor (3rd) in what can only be described as a loft room, certainly not one of the lovely looking rooms in their photos! Shabby paintwork on walls, holes/cracks in walls and ceilings, rotten window and skirting boards as well as the door. Water leaked from the 'wet room' under the door into the bedroom area. Disgusting smell from bathroom (stagnant water?). Extractor fan in wet room was as good as useless! Has not put me off going back to Amsterdam, we just won't be staying here again.

We have been kindly received. Gotennjamer nr 30, in the basement. The room is small but fine for the night. The floor is crooked, so the bed is also crooked: with the foot end slightly raised. The mattress was totally saggy. Or there was a really bad suspension in it. The bathroom was small and smelled damp. In the room was a small fridge. When we opened it, there was a huge stench that burned in your eyes. It was a really disgusting smell, which lingered for a long time. We passed it on when we went home, because we don't want to risk them opening it if we still had to sleep there. Our room was right next to a coffee shop, so it was still rackety well into the night and loud music came back on at 7. You hear riding in trams, but that was no problem In short, in itself slept fine but longer than 1 night we would not advise. And another tip: NEVER OPEN THE REFRIGERATOR!!
