Van der Valk Almere

Very nice hotel for a weekend in Amsterdam. Spacious room with bathtub and shower, very large indoor pool with gym. Delicious food.

Alone, with my children or my sweetheart, this is where I can recharge. The wellness suites are my favorite!

There are incredibly unfriendly staff working at this Van der Valk. A simple greeting apparently can't even get rid of it, which immediately gives a bad first impression. In addition, there was food from other guests for a long time on our doorstep that was simply not cleaned up. That's not only sloppy, but also just dirty and totally not what you expect from a hotel in this price range. Also, the extra towels, which should have been arranged, were simply forgotten. Instead of this being neatly solved, we had to go to the back and to the reception to arrange this ourselves at 22:00 in the evening. Basic things like that are just supposed to be in order, especially at a hotel you pay handsomely for. The spa was far too busy and definitely not the soothing experience you pay for. There were constant groups of boys making bombs and not seeming to be bothered. Also, hardly any rules or cleanliness were enforced, making the whole spa feel chaotic and unkempt. For a Van der Valk, for which you pay handsomely, you can expect peace, hygiene and good service. Instead, it was mostly frustrating and disappointing. At this price, this is really unacceptable. I therefore expect appropriate compensation or money back, because this stay absolutely did not live up to what is promised.
