GOLDEN TULIP LION D'OR HAARLEM

DO NOT BOOK HERE! Manager Dirk Pauw treats you like gross dirt. Checked in at 1pm yesterday 15 July and left bags behind. Receptionist indicated that the first rooms that were ready would be for us. Then after a day at the beach we return in the evening around 22:00 and it turns out that we have to grab another hotel because there would be water leakage. The other hotel is not in the center at all and we ask to see the rooms where water leakage would occur. They couldn't show us this. The manager indicated that booking.com made the mistake and that he will not help us further. The hotel is located on the station square of Haarlem where there are numerous taxis. After half an hour no taxi and our evening is completely ruined. In the end we didn't get a taxi or a hotel and we had to go back home. This is the worst and most unprofessional situation I've ever experienced Would they rent our 2x 2 person rooms where each 1 person would stay more expensive?? That remains the question but you will not get an honest answer at this hotel!!

This lovely boutique hotel is a one minute walk from the Haarlem train station. Rooms were beautiful; staff was always gracious. The housekeeping staff performed magic on our two rooms (we were traveling with six grandchildren, ages 9-14). It is situated in a cozy, charming neighborhood - with restaurants, shops, canals and beautiful walks everywhere.

Small rooms, no water in the room and ongoing construction works leading to noise outside. Did not have breakfast at hotel as construction works were taking place directly outside the breakfast hall. Good location. Expensive, given the experience
