CARLTON BEACH

Really a great restaurant! Super sweet welcome, got an upgrade which was really fantastic with a sea view. The breakfast was delicious! My daughter eats gluten-free and everything was arranged for that. The room was great, nice bed with balcony and lots of space! Even swam in the pool.

We stayed again two nights at Carlton Beach and what has the hotel improved after the recent large-scale renovation. In previous reviews we have described our positive experiences with this hotel in more detail, so we do not need to repeat them all again. This stay was again excellent. One point stood out this time, probably precisely because the hotel was almost fully occupied. The space around the breakfast buffet is quite tight and at busy times it becomes difficult to quietly pick something out, even at 08:30-09:00. Working with time slots, such as in the corona period, could probably spread the crowds well, but we also understand that nowadays you prefer not to let guests choose a time for their breakfast in advance. Especially with a longer stay we think that is not ideal. Perhaps on very busy days the adjacent bar could be partially involved in breakfast. Some of the breakfast tables are already there and there is also a second coffee machine. For example, by creating a small second distribution point there with some of the most common breakfast items, the pressure around the central buffet could perhaps be reduced a bit. Of course, we realize that this may have been looked at before and that there may be practical reasons why this is not possible or desirable; we therefore mention it mainly as a suggestion from our experience during this stay. We have solved it very comfortably: breakfast in the room (see photo). Very nice that this is now possible again and for us that was a wonderfully relaxing start to the day. What also struck us this time is how well the renewal of Carlton Beach fits in with what is currently happening with Scheveningen. The beautifully renovated and much greener boulevard is now finished and has visibly given the seaside resort a quality boost. The long-standing Foodhall also comes into its own even better because of the renewed boulevard. The unique location right on the promenade and overlooking the sea makes it a lovely and accessible place to eat or drink, with something for almost everyone. It is precisely the combination of beach, boulevard, catering and similar facilities within walking distance that makes this part of Scheveningen increasingly attractive. And this just seems like the beginning. With RE:BORN’s ambitious plans for De Pier and Palace Promenade, among others, Scheveningen could change enormously in the coming years. Maybe even another iconic neighbor in the future will get the renaissance such a special building deserves.??? In addition, there is an interesting development: The Hague is increasingly mentioned as a *coolcation* destination. While summers in southern Europe are getting hotter, Scheveningen offers something that can become quite unique in northern Europe: a large sandy beach, the North Sea and pleasant summer beach days, combined with all the amenities and culture of an international city right behind it. If all the plans come to fruition, we believe that Scheveningen could be one of the most attractive and modern seaside resorts in northern Europe in a few years. And the completely renewed Carlton Beach has already put itself in excellent position to take advantage of that. In any case, we would like to come back and follow that development closely in the coming years!

Great hotel, great location. Only I had expensive sunglasses in my suitcase and they suddenly disappeared. Called to the hotel a few times but is poorly helped. Have a look at our lost and found she says and don't want to bother asking around because the suitcase he was in was never open until we were home. I said he has sentimental value to me but had no understanding of them at all.
