Mercure Rotorua

We didn't even stay.....check in was shocking. The reception was looking a bit down trodden, went to clean my hands under the sanitising station, it fell off and the batteries fell out. It wasnt screwed to the base. I laughingly said to my partner might be a bad start. Went to our room after walking past rooms with christmas decorations still attached and if not, then was bits of old faded tinsel attached to the doors. Went into our room and it smelt. There was one very shavy couch in the room, one dinning chair and a small desk looking thing, on through the kitchen that had a ovenhood and not another (apart from the fridge) piece of kitchen equipment. The bathroom was disgusting. It was not clean at all. The bedroom had a bed in it and not even a bedside table. We didn't bother the unpack the car, went to complain to a most unhelpful person. We asked for a refund, too many excuses so we just left and went elsewhere.

Very run down. We stayed in a 2 bedroom family suite. No couch, no table/chairs..only four broken down upholstered chairs set in a row. Only one spoon, 3 coffee mugs, dirty carpet, dirty walls and doors. The actual couch was on the "patio". Noisey. Worst place I have ever stayed.

The only good thing was the pool! Arrived for the scheduled 3pm check-in and they were still cleaning the room - not really a problem as we are on vacation. Cleanliness - There is carpeting throughout but I never saw a vacuum cleaner while they were cleaning any rooms. There was dust and dirtiness everywhere. Things don't work - the fan in the bedroom didn’t work properly so one person in the bed got the fan on them but not the other. TV had power but wasn't connected to anything. Overall impression - this is a 1 star accommodation at best. There's a huge living room/lounge with a tiny TV on the wall that doesn't work, walls are filthy and in need of a paint job, there's no phone to call reception which closes at 9pm, which is a problem if youve got loud parties in multiple rooms. The bedroom has a bed and a side table on one side - nowhere to put your suitcase or clothes, and if you are the person on the side of the bed that doesn't get the side table well then you're putting your stuff on the floor...the carpeted floor which you have no idea of the last time it was cleaned or vacuumed. Yuck! The pool was nice and the fridge was cold - thats about all thats good in the place.
