I stayed here several times in the past and have been here once again, after staying in another hotel in town the past 4 years.
I personally see a decline in quality compared to what I remembered from my past stays. The room keys are now a personal code, which you receive via mail, even after waiting for 10 minutes, I did not receive the code. So I had to walk back to the reception and got them to write it down for me. Why this is not done initially is unclear for me.
The rooms are clean and well sized, but there are now power plugs at the side of the bed, so you have to move the bed from the wall to get to the plug for the lamp to get your chargers plugged in and you need a long cable.
The AC is not able to provide warm air the whole day, despite having winter, it switches of over the day and cools the room down to 16 degrees even when you switch it too heat mode. It seemed to be heating some hours over night, but not enough to keep the room comfy for the whole day.
Overall the stay was not as good as I hoped for and I will not stay here in the future.

We stayed here as a base during our road trip across North Island.
The hotel is close to the bridge which leads to the area known as Mt Maunganui (closed during our stay due to a landslip & fatalities).
Considering how close to the main road it is, the noise level was low.
There is an infinity pool here, which is smaller than indicated in the stock photos - we didn’t use mainly because the conference centre overlooks the pool & there were folk having meetings looking at other folk in swim wear.
Hotel reception was friendly & helpful.
Parking was a little tight when the hotel was full but we always managed to get a space.
Room access is thru a digital code & that’s pretty unique & useful I thought not having to worry about keys or cards.
Our room was at the back of the hotel with view of the bins - this was apparent when they emptied them early on Monday morning & on another morning - definitely not impressed 🤬
Not enough hangers in the wardrobe for 2 people staying 4 nights.
The safe was standard & easy to use.
The bathroom made my wife angry 😡- the flush was on the internal wall, so couldn’t be used in the night as it was incredibly loud.
The shower had a mosaic tile floor which wasn’t comfortable to stand on.
The shower door was curved, & opened out so you couldn’t put a towel down anywhere close - note shiny tiles are not friendly when wet.
No shelves in shower to put own toiletries (hotel own were good quality but irritated our skin) shower itself had good water pressure.
Comfy bed & decent air conditioning.
The hotel is walking distance to several restaurants & bars via a decently lit walkway. The walkway to Mt Maunganui beach is not doable unless you want a serious walk past an industrial area & driving there advised.
I have reviewed this directly for the hotel, but found more negatives since our stay.

This seems to be a luxe hotel but when we got to our room we had a great view of the bins and heat pumps. We did opt not to pay for the sea view but were not expecting bins instead. Nevertheless the room was comfortable, the bar area relaxing and there was plenty of outside space if you wanted a drink in the sun. The gates to the promenade were locked so we did end up walking though even more bins to get to town but better safe than sorry I guess.
