This was also the end of a three week trip for us. One of the reasons we chose to stay there was the close proximity to the airport as we were do to fly out early. When we arrived we received a very warm welcome and found that our room was very clean and comfortable. Both Ron and Helen were very friendly and helpful. They made very nice recommendations on places for us to visit and served very nice breakfast. It is hard to believe that Helen the woman that went out specially to buy mushrooms for my husband's breakfast after he said that breakfast would have been better with them as a joke would have been as abrupt as your other reviewer had said. We enjoyed ourselves so much we made a point of sitting and visiting one evening and sharing a glass of wine with Ron a very friendly and funny man unfortunately Helen was at work. Our Flight home ended up being changed to a later time and we were told it was fine to leave our bags for the day. When we picked them up we had one last departing drink with our host and said that we would definitely go back next time we visit NZ

The overall B&B was very nice BUT it's on a very very busy main road and it took quite a while to get across the road...the signage was not big enough and driving along the busy road all of a sudden you have gone passed the driveway... hard to get back!
Ron was a very lovely man but I'm sorry I found Helen to be very abrupt.. we caught her on a night when she was going out with the girls.. she said she was going to get us milk and biscuits ... she never returned.. no milk.. the next morning I was greeted with an abrupt goodmorning and a "what are you doing here" look .. I asked for green top milk and she said there was none and anyway green top milk was "crap".. I cannot drink blue top mild...the eggs and bacon was slapped on our plates and the bacon was not quite cooked... all in all I paid $130 for a SINGLE bed and not even able to have a cup of tea.
Helen.. don't go out for a girls night out if you treat your guest like this!!!!

Helen and Ron made us so welcome to their home, which is only a few minutes away from the airport. It was the end of a three week holiday for the four of us but it was the icing on the cake. Meeting such friendly and fun people has definielty left us with great memories. We arrived late afternoon and ended up going out for a meal with our hosts at a local restaurant.
We folllowed their advice (and map) on places to visit and spent a lovely day on the Banks Peninsula.
On the morning we left there was no rush to get out by a certain time so we enjoyed a leisurely, tasty breakfast before setting off for the Antarctic Centre (as recommended by Helen and Ron)
We had a hire car but Helen and Ron will pick people up from and drop them at the airport at no chanrge.
We can thoroughly recommend this farm based B&B
