Peppertree

The Sunset room is definitely NOT luxury but rather a two star standard. The house is very nice and the other rooms may be of a luxury standard (unknown as stayed in Sunset room). The photos and descriptions on the website portray a luxury experience but sadly, this is ABSOLUTELY not the case for the Sunset room: very basic decor, garden furniture, no head board on bed, broken lampshade, torn net curtain fixed with tape, worn out carpet. Guests staying in the upstairs room can be heard (including bathroom noises). Altogether a disappointing experience which was supposed to be e treat to celebrate an anniversary. Massively overpriced for what was a standard, NOT luxury, room.

Sadly our experience was dissapointing to put it mildly. The 5* luxury it claims (we cant find any independent verification) to us appeard 3* at best. For $850 a night would expect more than a 30 year old bed (make. that two beds pushed together) with no headboard, the two poor prints/pictures that had fallen out of of their mounts and a dated bathroom with a small cubicle shower, is more motel than hotel. If you want to open your curtains, expect to see you neighbours looking in. A huge let down and dissapointment.

We arrived from Wellington for our two night stay at The Peppertree, as part of our 3 week driving tour of New Zealand. Good choice - you bet!!! A total contrast to our previous stay at the Intercontinental in Wellington, but a fantastic next stop! Why…well, Heidi you are the person that makes it so special! A warm welcome, a lovely setting, with so many small touches that made our stay so memorable! The fact that you liaised with our son back in the UK (unknown to us) in order to provide wine for my wife’s birthday during our stay meant so much! If, as a traveller, you’re looking for a more personal touch, including chatting to other guests from around the world at breakfast, then you really must book The Peppertree!!!
