Beware - Read on
We have given this hotel a two, because, despite all the below problems, it has a great location, good parking and generous sized rooms, otherwise, it would have been a one. Staff were generally polite and helpful and the place generally clean and tidy.
We had an ant infestation and were moved eventually.
Don’t expect to get drunk in the bar on spirits or liquors etc; their single measures are only 15ml but it’s not displayed anywhere. We went to other places and generally it’s 30ml for similar prices. Due to this we never ate or drank there during our stay. When brought up with management they tried to defend saying that ‘Here in New Zealand…..’ we stopped him by saying we are ‘locals’, to which he appeared lost for words!
The single glazing to the front of the building is inadequate for the traffic noise
Bathrooms were tired, our first room had a lot of floor grout missing, noisy fan, mould around the shower and a badly stained sink, amongst other small things
The air con units were badly placed, being in the corner of the rooms, the first being short on control and the second not working at all. We understand that units are in the process of being refurbished.
