Mercure Dunedin

Was passing through Dunedin on our way to Bluff - We have stayed at the Fables before and it is lovely. Excellent Customer Service, friendly staff. We got a room upgrade which was very exciting. Recommend you to stay here, it truly is a wee gem.

This hotel is as beautiful as pictured. My travel plans changed a couple of times prior to my arrival due to flight changes beyond my control, and the hotel managed those changes very professionally. Upon my arrival, I was greeted with a delicious non-alcoholic drink. When I temporarily experienced a problem with my credit card going through due to a fraud alert, I was still able to check in with no problem by providing a secondary credit card for holding. Reasons for 4 stars instead of 5: (R1) I experienced a problem later in the evening after the credit card issue had been resolved, and I wanted to use the original credit card for holding. There was a different person at the counter, and he was very rude. Although he wasn't there when I checked in, he was trying to tell me what did and didn't happen instead of simply switching out the credit cards. I didn't catch his name, but he had a tall, slender build and a French accent. Thankfully, I had no problems when checking out. (R2) The shower design caused water to flow everywhere! I had to use extra bath mats and slippers, which were provided.

The staff at the Fable Dunedin are second to none! They could not have been more helpful for a guest who had someone in hospital and was under a lot of stress. They made accommodation one less thing to worry about.
