Best Western Belvedere Luxury Apartments

Belvedere Apartments are good value for money in a very popular town. Set back on the hill overlooking Wanaka the Belvedere is only a wee walk to the Town Centre, however the only downside is you have a slight grade to negotiate on the return journey. Wanaka is not a Queenstown yet because you can still actually drive your car & find spaces in town, either on the street or in the car parks. Belvedere Apartments being set back on the hill allows you magnificent views over the surrounding Alps & Lake, this makes the Belvedere the value for money over the more costly & closer to Town Centre motels/hotels that have limited views.

Modern two bedroom apartment for our family of 4 but was lacking in some key areas. Firstly, the modern apartment had one wall heater in the lounge to heat two bedrooms and an open plan lounge & kitchen. This made a winter ski trip very uncomfortable and not worth the expense of this apartment. Yes, it had underfloor heating in the bathroom and electric blankets but needed a heat pump for this space in winter. Secondly, the cookware was cheap - I felt like we were back flatting as a student and not in an expensive apartment. Very hard to cook a meal for the family. The positives include great parking, separate cupboards for ski gear, very close to central Wanaka and modern feel. Just don’t stay here in Winter!

We stayed for six nights at the Belvedere Apartments during the school holidays. Our two bedroom apartment was well appointed, clean and modern. The apartment was unserviced (which we knew prior to booking) however, when our amenities ran out after two-three days we were told to go to the supermarket to replace them (teabags, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner). For $400 per night I would have expected that these items would have been happily replaced for us by the host. Instead, we received a clear message that we needed to be going to the supermarket for these items - even for toilet paper! The woman behind the counter begrudgingly gave us one more roll and made it clear that we were inconveniencing her. Although we did not expect the room to be serviced I expected replacement items to be made readily available. Instead the host made it clear that they give items to "get you through the first few days until you can get to the supermarket". This system clearly penalises the guests who stay for a longer time and run out of essentials. Perhaps they need to clearly state this on their website so that you can throw a couple of rolls of toilet paper into your case before you set off - for your $400 a night apartment stay!!! This left a sour taste in our mouths and we won't be staying here again when there are so many other options available in Wanaka.
