WANAKA EDGE SUITES

Hi, We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartments for 10 days as part of a family reunion. Three other families joined us for 7 days. The 2 bedroom apartments are ideal, spacious, well appointed and suited us all very well. The single storey apartments are the best as there is no potential noise from apartments above. Fortunately we were in the single storey block. We used the restaurant facility several times and the scones in the morning/lunch are excellent and the dinner quality A++. We arranged a family celebration in the Alcove Room next door to the main restaurant. The quality of the food, bar service and staff service was excellent - thank you. All the families loved their stay and would go back.

Stayed with my family in a two bedroom apartment. Overall it was clean and all of the equipment worked. Adequate bench space and kitchen equipment to make meals, although the knives could do with a good sharpen (the sharpener they had wasn't that great). The dishwasher was unusually small but did the job (noisy so used during the day). Undercover parking space which is good. Several levels of stairs to get to the apartment which did not worry us but might be a concern to some. For a week's stay the towels could be changed for an extra $50 charge however with a washing machine and dryer in the apartment we did it ourselves which was absolutely fine. Clothes horse also in the apartment which was very handy. Within a comfortable 15-20 minute walk of Wanaka. Our 26 year old daughter particularly liked the apartment. Interestingly there was an additional charge for internet use which is unusual. Responsive staff. Overall functional, clean and adequate.

This would have to be the worst accomodation I have stayed in in NZ. The website does not give a true indication of what the experience is really like. We stayed in unit 8 which for $185 per night is quite small. It is on the bottom floor right near the car park which means you have to keep the blinds down all day otherwise people keep looking in. This makes the unit really dark and doesn't give a nice feeling. We had booked for four nights unfortunately but felt like leaving straight away. On the first night we could not shower as it was so disgustingly dirty with black and orange mould covering the grout on the tiles. In the morning I approached reception ,Gill, who just said if you are happy for me to use bleach I will clean it when you are out which she did. Why not have it clean before we got there? The rest of the unit was clean enough although like others i found inconsistencies in the almost non existent servicing. We also asked for a light bulb replacement which wasn't done. This place is being run as a long term rental accomodation and has a very untidy feel. They don't seem to care about others who just want a nice holiday experience. To top it all off I left my lovely orange merino jacket in the wardrobe and when I rang ,Gill said she would post it to me that day. I hadn't received it in a week and rang to be informed By the other lady Josie that she had gone overseas and basically too bad but after some discussion she agreed to follow it up and get back to me by email. But guess what I haven't heard a thing. I have just now rang Josie who said she had emailed me but as you can guess I did not receive any emails. After some discussion whereby she stated she could not get in touch with Gill she hung up on me. I know the jacket was in the wardrobe and so does my friend who saw it there when she packed her own clothes. She left the door open so I would see it but I just closed the doors and didn't realise until I got home and rang immediately. I know this is long winded but I am angry and feel like management don't really care about this place. I would be concerned if I was an owner. This is the first review I have written even though I travel extensively so I am not in the habit of criticising.
