On arrival we unfortunately found the main house covered in scaffolding. The young man greeting us was apologetic but assured us the workmen would be off site soon, and it shouldn’t impact our stay. Although the cottage is stood a little back from the main house, I’m afraid it did. It made the small pool area, very difficult to access and unpleasant to want to. Also just arriving to a place covered in scaffolding was not great. The research we did mentioned amenities. Not once were we invited into the main house so no lounge, bar, gym facilities. The room in the cottage itself, whilst clean was dated and in need of an upgrade. The kitchenette one of the smallest we experienced on our travels. Only one of the double showers worked. Grounds were not as expected from description, involving us to climb over several large fallen branches. Hot tub was secluded in the gardens but in the damp environment was swarming with biters! The Continental breakfast that was delivered to outside our cottage each morning was of decent quality. Overall we felt the description, both written and photographic, of the estate did not meet the experience. We did raise our concerns with the agent we travelled and booked through and the response from the owners was as the cottage is separate from the house it wouldn’t affect our stay. It did, and apart from that, the lack of the other facilities, the state of the pool and pool area, plus the dated decor meant it didn’t match other 5* boutiques stays at all.

Incredible - both the accommodation and the service. Very difficult to put into words how good this hotel (in reality 2 villas) is. You knew it was going to be something special when driving up the access road there is a notice board welcoming you by name, to the welcome mark gave, showing us all around the estate and how everything works and then bring us some light bites to have with the Prosecco that was waiting in the fridge. Mark delivered and incredible breakfast to us the following morning - a wonderful and exquisite stay

Our stay was so lovely- beautiful canapés, breakfast, and such a peaceful setting! We had the spa all to ourselves in a gorgeous New Zealand forest. Thank you to our wonderful hosts for a great stay. We enjoyed a delicious dinner down the road at an outdoor Italian restaurant that was recommended.
