Thank you Ashley at Te Weheka for looking after us during our stay in Fox Glacier. Due to an unfortunate accident my wife suffered we cannot thank everyone for thier help and support during our stay. A lovely hotel, nice rooms with all you need, nice breakfast each morning. Lovely views in a stunning area... Highly recommend this hotel if you are visiting this area in New Zealand.

Lovely large room looking out over the township. Welcoming, chatty and helpful owners. Guest laundry very useful. Delicious full English breakfast. On site parking. Close to everything. Helpful advice about ongoing trip - places to stop, what not to miss - thank you!

This was called a retreat by our tour company and after check in I realised why. Retreat and stay somewhere else is what they must have been hinting! This tired hotel is comfortably the worst I have stayed in, in over thirty years of travelling. The previous guests socks were still drying on one of the armchairs in the room which was lacking in air conditioning in 28 degrees of heat where you dare not open the windows for fear of being eaten alive by the insects. The cups for the in room tea and coffee were not clean and despite offering a cafetière there was no filter coffee to be found. There is a distinct lack of usable power sockets, the towels were noticeably damp prior to use, the towel rail fell off the wall during use and the shower head slowly slides down the pole so only vertically challenged folk can sensibly use it. The bed lacks a head board and when you remove the utterly unnecessary cushions you discover that they are necessary to hide the badly stained bed sheet that whoever made the bed must have known needed re washing. The main course was inedible from the restaurant with under cooked chicken sitting on a crunchy undercooked risotto served with fresh lettuce (hot) and carrots so under cooked as to be difficult to cut - but it could be worse, you could have gone vegetarian and despite warning of the fact all you got served was the inedible risotto. My advice if you are on a tour that includes this location is to be grateful that you don’t have to stay for two nights. Avoid.
