We were advised to book directly at the reception instead of using the application by the receptionist. We found out after it was 500-600 NOK more expensive. This is not to be done to families with kids traveling 1000 km.. Mocktails for kids were not available as it was reading in the benefits.. The windows of the room were really dirty as well as the floor of the toilet ( black lines) and it was really hot inside the room!

I stayed two nights at Scandic Hammerfest, and the experience was a bit two-piece. What really pulls up are the employees. The customer service is simply first class. Everyone I met was incredibly friendly, service-friendly and welcoming. Actually so nice that it almost felt a bit in excess. It is clear that the hotel has staff who care about the guests. Breakfast gets a solid 8/10. The staff at the restaurant did an impressive job. They kept an eye on what had to be filled, which tables had to be cleaned, and made sure everything flowed seamlessly. It seemed well organized and professional. What pulls down is the hotel itself. Outside the restaurant it appears to be quite tiring and mature for an upgrade. The rooms are functional, but very simple. It seems that an attempt has been made to refresh them with newer furniture and decor, but the building still bears a clear mark of the age. For me, the contrast became quite visible. The gangs are dark, narrow and give a slightly claustrophobic feeling. They don't exactly create an inviting first impression. The elevator did nothing to increase confidence either – it makes so much noise that you almost start to wonder if it can last one more ride. Overall, this is a hotel with fantastic staff and a good breakfast, but the building itself is unfortunately not meeting the same standard. If the hotel gets a real upgrade, I think it can be a very good place to stay.
