First Hotel Bergen Marin

Great location, well appointed rooms, friendly staff and a lovely lobby with luxurious design. Breakfast was very good.

I visited hotel last week. Location very good Hotel rating was good Facilities average Experience We were welcomed by receptionist Cadandra ,we had very unpleasant experience . We arrived at hotel at 1PM and asked politely if there is possibility of early check in. First she bluntly refused and on further questioning she asked for 220kronas for that or wait till 3 PM. She did not offer luggage storage facility too. When we asked another staff he advised we can store luggage and go out to explore. When we came back 4 PM and went to desk she allotted us worst available room number 507 that had big celing window and was hot like oven(rooms has no ac). I have to come down and ask for another room then I was allowed another room with lot of resistance. That shows she gave us worst room out of discrimination In spite of we came to hotel early and made us feel like we were staying free and she was doing obligation on us. My sincere advise is Cassandra need more training for public dealing.

Home Hotel Bryggen has maintained its public spaces well (clean lobby, welcoming front desk reps, attractive furnishings) but the room was sub par. The view out of our 3rd floor window was of a neighboring filthy roof. The “bed” was sort of pushed together day beds with mattresses that were long past their useful life. Each half of the bed had a separate foam “mattress topper” which was also worn and unhelpful. When you sat on the edge of the bed there was no reinforcement, the entire edge would dip down and almost drop you onto the floor. There was no safe or refrigerator. The bathtub edge was very high, making access difficult for a short or elderly person, and there were no grab bars. We were glad we only spent one night here before starting a Hurtigruten cruise.
