Grand Terminus

Old-style for this hotel in Bergen, about 10 minutes from the central area with restaurants, fish market. A few more steps and you can walk in old Bryggen, or take the little train for the view from the top

Currently staying at the Grand Hotel Terminus. Please leave the word “Grand” as it is horrific. We’re currently staying in room 201…a 3 meter by 3 meter room without airconditioning and a fantastic view ( see my picture). So forget about this hotel !

We enjoyed staying here for three nights. The location was very convenient across the road from the rail station. A very friendly welcome greeted us. As an old railway hotel with character it is very conveniently located beside the train and the city centre. Our room was overlooked by trees on the 7th floor. The lift was great ( we had no delays unlike other reviews) the bed was very comfortable and we liked the spacious modern bathroom. A very comfortable bed. Housekeeping cleaned daily. Tea & Coffee in the room and also in a room just after reception. Breakfast was good and the food was replenished as needed. It was served until 1030am at weekend. One small disappointment was when we arrived very late after a long journey and wanted a small meal ( a slice of toast or a small sandwich) the restaurant could only offer starters from their dinner menu which was ok. We were too tired to go out and didn’t know where we could find a simple sandwich. Discovered afterwards that there’s a few places in the nearby shopping centre that would have suited. ( 3 mins walk). But after that we were extremely happy with our stay and will recommend friend to stay here.
