RADISSON BLU ROYAL

Excellent location in the Bryggen area, comfortable hotel with terrible service. Had booked 2 premium rooms on the Radisson website, being a member of Radisson hotels. We reached the hotel at about 11AM and were met by Rohit in the front office. we requested for an early check in if possible and were told that check in is at 3pm. We were also told by Rohit that the hotel was full and since we were holding a flexible booking which had free cancellation till 12 pm on date of arrival we were free to cancel the booking and look elsewhere in Bergen for a room, as they would not be able to give a room before three. We found that odd and quite offensive and rude and told him so. We were finally given rooms at 2 PM, 02 rooms booked together provided on two different floors. The rooms were not large even though they were categorised as premium rooms but were comfortable. The next day we returned late from our trip to Flam only to find that the room was not cleaned. We were told by reception that they were unaware if housekeeping had cleaned our rooms as all rooms are not cleaned every day as they wanted to save the environment. When asked for the mail id of the GM of the hotel so that we could put forward our review on the hotel we were told rudely by the front office that the mail id of the GM could not be shared and if we had to write something to the hotel then to write to the front office mail id and they would forward it to the GM if they felt that the matter deserved the attention of the GM. We were there for 2 nights and very happy to leave the hotel and not return again. Seeing the kind of service Radisson hotels handed out we cancelled our booking at the Radisson Blu hotel in Zurich Airport and stayed at the beautiful Hyatt Regency at the circle in Zurich airport which was a marvellous stay.

Wonderful location, great room, accosting staff, and tasty breakfast. If you are staying over a weekend, be sure to confirm at checkin that you are not near the nightclub side of the hotel. The thumping lasted until 3AM and was brutal. When I notified the front desk, all of the team members were apologetic and kind. The Manager was very thoughtful at checkout and offered me a partial refund on the one night of the noise. All and all - I would still definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting beautiful Bergen.

We spent 1 night here prior to our Hurtigruten cruise. Kato (?) welcomed us. Very nice, helpful and our room was ready early so we were able to get in upon our early arrival. Every staff member was great. Our beds were comfortable and room was quiet. We will stay here upon our return from our cruise.
