We had a great time at this hotel, and we’ve stayed at many 5* resorts around the world. It’s functional, not luxury, but of note: - central location is excellent, we could rest here throughout the day whenever we liked - all the sights, restaurants, shops etc are nearby - on the sixth floor, the windows blocked the nighttime sounds very effectively. We are sensitive to noise but were fine sleeping from around 9pm onwards. - black out curtains, not to be sniffed at in Norway - very comfortable beds and bedding (yes, single beds even for double rooms, usual in Norway) - large TVs, kettle, fridge, and the bathrooms had generous and very good quality toiletries (big pump bottles) - yes, breakfast was busy, but it was well stocked and decent quality. There were queues for coffee machine in the peak hour but most medium range hotels have that nowadays. - water fountain in the restaurant - either ice, room or hot water to fill bottles, and they let us do this outside breakfast hours. - if you’re not the sort that steals from the breakfast buffet, you can pay 100NOK for a takeaway box and prepare lunch for the day, which we did for one of our pickier children for a train journey. Really helpful to offer this. - interconnecting room which is helpful for families. - it was fairly warm in the room, but not too hot for easy sleeping and the duvets were purposely light. We had been warned that Norwegian rooms run hot. - wonderful views for sixth floor, and the larger of our interconnecting rooms had a nice seat to relax in - supermarket virtually next door! To be aware - it is not a luxury hotel. It’s clean, practically-equipped accommodation for people who are spending lots of time out and about. - i imagine there may be more noise on the lower floors Reserve Bergen restaurants 3-4 days in advance! We missed out on the places we wanted because we didn’t realise we should do this.

The hotel is centrally located with walking distance to most. Hotel room: Very hot, the ventilation did not work, the reception said the error was corrected, but it did not. We were a travel companion of 4 adults, 4 children, (11-12 years old) One of the children managed to tear down an information picture in the lobby that hung on a screw right by the card reader to get in. The frame that was of type 50 kr from Clas Ohlson we had to nice replace. For the net sum of 200 kr. This is just embarrassing. To demand this when children are unlucky on such a filleting is dusty. The frame should have been screwed tight, given the location. (Even the poor reception girls found it embarrassing to claim this.) Do you pay for the plates and mugs that are crushed in the restaurant too? I hope the value of the 50kr frame was worth getting this bad review.

Nice hotel in the middle of Bergen. Excellent room on the 7th floor, especially after the free upgrade because our room was not ready yet. That top floor is more noisy, especially on weekends when there are more outside noises. Good service and very friendly staff.
