We had a night stay at this hotel during our Norway family trip in July and our experience was nothing but brilliant.. The location of the hotel was excellent, with a direct view of the fjord from our Fjord View Room with Balcony. Even the Fjord View rooms without balcony have a nice direct view of the fjord. The hotel has a spavious lounge seating with very courteous receptionists, a very good restaurant which has serves very tasty breakfast and even the dinner was top quality (booking necessary due to the rush). The best part of the hotel, which is its USP is definitely the Spa. We took a couple massage and simply loved the relaxation area, with top of the world view of the fjord below. There is also an outdoor jacuzzi pool and indoor pool. For car lovers one surprise awaits you in the form of a small vintage car exhibition in the basement, displaying quite a few cars from early twentieth century. Overall very good experience.

We were staying at the property for two days. Our rental vehicle was parked right in front of the hotel. In those 2 days our car was hit by another vehicle. I spoke with staff and they have cameras directly behind where our car was parked pointing in the direction of exactly where our car was hit. They said they would contact me when they went through the footage. I’m not sure if the footage was ever reviewed as they in fact did not contact me. 2 days later I had to reach out and get in contact with them where they claimed they meant to call me and that they did not have any footage. Now I’ll be dealing with an insurance claim while the hotel has no valid security cameras. It’s incredibly frustrating assuming our vehicle would be safe in the designated parking spaces it was parked the entire duration of our stay.

Location and view from the dining hall were the best asset which this hotel has. Because of the peak season, the room charges were extremely high. Dispite the high prices we paid, services were basic and ordinary. Room was OK, did not have any amenities except hand soap, shampoo and body wash. Pool and juggzy were not very clean due to the high usage. Restaurant offered buffet dinner, which was again very ordinary, composed with relatively inexpensive ingredients. The hotel made mistake of double charging the bill of the restaurant. I was contacting them for 3 days by mail, with no answers at all. It is painful to follow up, and eventually, I need to make a dispute if they ignore my messages with evidences. It is worthwhile to stay the hotel, to enjoy unique location and beautiful scenery. Better not to expect the first class services. Please also check the bill before you sign, as they make mistakes.
